7 2 Ways to Save Two voluntary programs to help Maryland customers reduce electricity use and save money during summer months 1. Peak Energy Savings Credit gives customers credits off their bills when electricity use is reduced on Peak Savings Days 2. Energy Wise Rewards gives customers a choice of energysaving device and is the automatic way to get bill credits 7

Peak Energy Savings Credit Program Maryland customers can earn credits off bills when taking steps to reduce electricity use during Peak Savings Days Receive $1.25 off your bill for every kilowatt-hour (kwh) of electricity reduced No enrollment necessary; participation is voluntary Named account holder receives notification of a Peak Savings Day the day before Phone call is automatic Choose text or Change your preferred communication methods through My Account (pepco.com) or by calling: PEAK ( ) 8

Peak Energy Savings Credit Program Reduce electricity use below your baseline Baseline is the average of three highest electricity use days within a 30-day period Day 1 = 20 kwh; Day 2 = 18 kwh; Day 3 = 15 kwh Baseline = 18 kwh Receive $1.25 per kwh reduced below your baseline Action Wait a day before using clothes dryer Raising the A/C setting 1-3 degrees Avoid cooking with the oven Turn off the TV when not in use Turn off lights Turn off computer when not in use Estimated Savings 4 kwh 4 kwh 3 kwh < 1 kwh < 1 kwh < 1 kwh 9

Energy Wise Rewards A voluntary peak-energy management program that automatically cycles off and on central A/C units and heat pumps on Peak Savings Days Available to Maryland and District of Columbia customers Customers choose either a web-programmable thermostat or an outdoor switch, which is provided and installed at no charge Automatically receive credits off electricity bills 10

Energy Wise Rewards PHI sends a radio signal to cycle off and on central air conditioner and heat pump compressors on Peak Savings Days Peak Savings Days are generally summer weekday afternoons There are usually 5 Peak Savings Days per season, with as many as 12 per year Customers may opt out of two Peak Savings Days each summer Conservation periods (during a Peak Savings Day) occur between noon and 8 p.m. and typically last 3 to 6 hours Customers can program their thermostat manually or remotely through the Internet via My Account 11
