2 What is LNG? LNG is another way of saying Liquefied Natural Gas. It is natural gas cooled to -260 F at normal air pressure the same as the methane-based natural gas that 65 million Americans use in their homes every day, only stored in a liquid state that s only 1/600th the volume of natural gas. LNG can be easily and safely transported by truck to users who are out of range of natural gas pipeline service. In addition, LNG has been transported by ocean-going vessels since 1959 without a single safety incident. LNG can be used as a primary heat and fuel source for industrial users in place of propane or fuel oil. In addition, LNG is currently being used in place of diesel to fuel on-road trucks and mining vehicles, and is also used in oil field service, marine and rail sectors. Facilities based in Temple, Pa North American Resource. As Americans continue to reduce reliance on foreign energy, we gain control of more opportunities helping businesses operate productively, reliably, and profitably. With Pennsylvania s plentiful supply, you ll be able to count on natural benefits for years to come. Safe & Green. In addition to financial rewards, converting to LNG helps your business slash carbon dioxide and other emissions, helping the environment. LNG is also extremely safe. LNG cannot explode or even ignite in its liquid state. When released, LNG immediately becomes a gas, and since that is lighter than air, simply dissipates. Reliable Savings. Dollar for dollar, LNG is a smarter fuel alternative for users of diesel fuel, fuel oil and propane. With increased domestic supply, the price of natural gas has proved to be less volatile than other fuel alternatives, and LNG equipment costs continue to decline, minimizing payback time on conversion.
