7 RoHS Scope: Restriction of the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) Purpose: Protection of human health and the environment, Including environmentally sound recovery and disposal of waste EEE Prohibits in homogeneous materials (0.1% /1,000 ppm): Lead, Hexavalent Chromium, Mercury, Polybrominated biphenyls, Polybrominated diphenyl ethers, DEHP, BBP, DBP, and DIBP Except: 0.01% /100 ppm

8 Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) (EC) No. 1907/2006 Scope: Applies to saleable articles Purpose: Protection of human health and the environment Determine chemical substances intrinsic properties Understand where and how chemicals are used Requires Industry to: Register chemicals Communicate substances of very high concern (SVHC) Poses restrictions on chemicals posing unacceptable risk If SVHC in incoming part, Nordson must calculate level for saleable products Must declare to Nordson customers when exceed threshold

9 REACH: SVHC Restricts: Currently 163 SVHCs Scientific evidence of probable serious effects to human health or the environment which give rise to an equivalent level of concern. European Chemical Agency (ECHA) adds substances ~twice per year Last June 2015 Next December 2015-ish How long will the list get? No numerical goal but estimate ~440, and complete by 2020

11 Nordson s Survey Process Nordson partnered with Foresite, using GEMS software, to develop the form. If your company provides a full material disclosure, future surveys will be limited.

36 FAQs and Trouble Shooting Q: I can t log in to GEMS. What s wrong? A: You will need a username, password, and PIN, which will be sent in an original requesting completion of the NRSD. 37 FAQs and Trouble Shooting Q: I already submitted the NRSD. Why I am getting a reminder ? A: When you upload your form into GEMS, you receive a Thank you and a reference number. This is misleading, and the system continues to process your form. You should receive an regarding your upload. The with either be an Upload Successful notice or Error(s) notice. Due to acquisitions and multiple ERP systems, it is possible that there are two supplier ID numbers for the same supplier. It is also possible there are multiple locations of your company and each have a different supplier ID number. Forms are loaded against 1 supplier number. Suppliers receive a reminder when a supplier number does not have a form loaded against it. The reminders are automatic at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 8 weeks.
