3 Introduction: - This project details with the mining of sand at village Nara Tahsil Kanker, Dist U.B. Kanker, Chhattishgarh. Proponent: - Proponent of the project is Sarpanch of Village Nara Tahsil Kaner Dist U.B. Kanker. Details of Quarry sand Area:- Proposed area of sand mining lease in Mahanadi at Village Nara. Tahsil Kanker Dist U.B. Kanker. Proponent of the project is Autonomous Body Village Panchayat of Village Nara Khasra no. 1025, Area 5.00 Hectares sand mining area is granted by the authority for the lease of minor minerals. The proponents are having all the necessary permission for the area which is non forest under. Purpose of project: - The purpose of the this feasibility report is the various type of environmental features baseline information present in the mine area that are likely for obtaining Environmental clearance from Ministry of Environment and Forest. Location: - Above proposed mine is situated at distance of 10 km. of Kanker. Any transport vehicles can reach their easily. There is no place of any significant importance lies near the lease area. Topography: - The study area is part of river Mahanadi. There is no forest within the proposed area. The above area lies in toposheet no.64h/11. The area is flat and flow of water in the area is never turbulent. Water flow in the river with start of rainy season till mid of October.

Project benefits: - Main objective for sand quarry is to provide good quality aggregate for building and construction project of surrounding area which leads to improvement in regional and economic growth of the area. During the quarry process about people on an average will be employed.

It is assumed that the generation of indirect employment would be multiple of direct employment. Improved and regional economy. Plantation program: - The sand mining area does not fall under forest. To improve the general environment of the area a forestation on the river bank has been undertaken by the village panchayat. Plantation species:- The plantation species have been considered based on the following: Adapted to the local Geo-climatic conditions. Different heights ranging from 4m to 10m ; and Preferably evergreen trees. Plantation for arresting:- Trees particularly having compact branching, closely arranged leaves, broad leaves are efficient filters of dust it is known that particles up to 80 milli micron may stick to vertical surfaces. Plantation to reduce noise pollution: - Trees having thick leaves have capacity to withstand sound waves. Combination of tree and shrubs together with suitable land forms and design appears to be the best system for combating noise pollution.

7 Mining method: - The method of mining will be open cast. Dry pit mining method will be employed using excavators, chain mounted poklain, loaders, etc. Reserve and removal of sand: - The total reserves estimated are cubic Meters. Sand excavated per year, the reserves is replenished. Conclusion: - In any human activity there are always possibilities of finding various. Project proponent has decided to examine and adopt one such option that will be both environment friendly and best suited for sand mining. A final selection is thus arrived. 1) The proposal is for environment clearance of the existing mine. 2) The proposal does not require further infrastructure. 3) The project is viable and environmental friendly.
