Prerequisite - WuP1 Water Quality Survey NB WuP1 Objective: Ensure that the quality of potable water delivered to building users is satisfactory. Requirement: Demonstrating that the quality of potable water meets the referenced drinking water quality standards at all points of use. Remark: ISO 5667 Part 6: for Sampling technique, preservation of samples, etc; Sample outlets farthest from the storage tank(s); Sample each water supply tank used in the building; QWRS drinking water standard is the required benchmark; Record water quality indicators, including, ph, Colour, Turbidity, conductivity, E-coli, total coliforms, etc

NB WuP2 Prerequisite - WuP2 Minimum Saving Performance Objective: Reduce the consumption of fresh (potable) water through the application of water saving devices that have proven performance and reliability. Requirement: Demonstrate that the use of water efficient devices leads to an aggregate annual saving of 10%. Remark: Baseline flow rates are provided in the BEAM guidebook Appendix. The calculation takes into account the number of occupants, male to female ratio, and the number of operational days per annum. This information must be supplied by the client and may be stated in the design brief or Owner s Project Requirements (OPR). The calculation shall include water taps for bath, basin, pantry/ kitchen, and also shower heads, and exclude water closet, urinal, water features, appliance and irrigation. There should be separate entries for water use in male and female facilities.

Wu1 Annual Water Use: 3 Credits NB Wu1 Objective: Reduce the consumption of potable (fresh) water through the application of water saving devices that have proven performance and reliability. Requirement: 1 credit for demonstrating that the use of water efficient devices leads to an estimated aggregate annual saving of 20%. 2 credits for demonstrating an annual saving of 25%. 3 credits for demonstrating an annual saving of 30%. Remark: Simulate by calculation annual water saving using baseline data in BEAM Appendix

NB Wu2 Wu2 Monitoring and Control: 1 Credit Objective: Reduce potable water waste due to concealed leakage, self monitor, and allow for auditing of water usage. Requirement: 1 credit for installation of devices to monitor water leakage from the fresh water distribution systems; Comments: No embedded plumbing pipework; Water leakage detection, sensors with central alarm;

Wu3 Water Efficient Irrigation : 1 Credit Exclusion: Where soft landscaping coverage is less than 50% of the area of the building footprint. Objective: Reduce the reliance and consumption of potable water for irrigation. NB Wu3 Requirement: 1 credit use an irrigation system which does not require the use of municipal potable water after establishment period is complete. Alternately: 1 credit for demonstrating highly efficient irrigation technology and/or the use of harvested rainwater and/or recycled grey water to reduce potable water consumption for irrigation by 50% or more in comparison with conventional irrigation of water intensive planting.

Wu4 Water Recycling: 2 credits + 1 Bonus NB Wu4 Objective: Encourage rainwater harvesting and recycling of greywater to reduce potable water consumption Requirement: a) Rainwater Harvesting - 1 credit for 5% or more potable water use reduction b) Recycled water (grey water) - 1 credit for 5% or more potable water use reduction 1 BONUS credit harvesting and/or greywater provides 10% or more potable water use reduction Note: AC system Condensate is greywater

Wu5 Water Efficient Appliances: 1 Credit Exclusion: Appliances are not installed by the developer. NB Wu5 Objective: Encourage the use of water efficient appliances. Requirement: 1 credit for installing water efficient appliances that are at least WELS grade 2 Remark: Residential: washing machines, dishwashers Hotel: Equipment for laundries, dishwashing, etc Simulation calculation, refer to Appendix for baseline data, and WELS.

Wu6 Effluent Discharge to Sewers: 1 Credit Exclusion: None NB Wu6 Objective: Reduce sewage discharged from buildings reducing the burdens on municipal sewage supply and treatment facilities. Requirement: 1 credit for demonstrating a reduction in annual sewage volumes by 20% or more. Remark: Simulation calculation, refer to Appendix for baseline data Only the water closets and urinals be considered.

EB WuP3 WuP3 Water Conservation Plan Prerequisite Objective: Reduce potable water. consumption Requirement: Develop a water management (conservation) plan endorsed by directorate level management. Remark: The plan, and regular review shall be integrated into management and operations structure and have clear delegation of responsibility for auditing and/or monitoring water consumption.

EB Wu5 Wu5 Water Audit 1 Bonus Credit Exclusion: None Objective: Awareness and reduction of potable water consumption Requirement: 1 BONUS credit for undertaking a water audit and maintaining a water use inventory. Remark: The audit report shall include regular monitoring, water consumption records, operation and maintenance records, etc. for all areas of water use, but may exclude water consumption by tenants.
