PureSphera Recovery and Recycling (formely known as Jaco Ecosolutions) PureSphera is committed to helping protect the environment. Since 2008 PureSphera has been recycling refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and destroying the harmful gases contained within. Gases such as CFC s, Freon and HFC s contained in cooling equipment are known greenhouse gases (GHGs) that increase global warming. In addition CFC s is depleting the ozone layer (ODS). Despite PureSphera s efforts, more than 85% of the gas in cooling coils and insulating foam in Canada continues to be released into the atmosphere! 2

How we work - Circular economy PureSphera works with municipalities, appliance retailers, refrigeration specialists, electrical utilities, as well as metal and automotive recyclers to eliminate halocarbons, improve energy efficiency and recover and reuse raw materials. PureSphera is able to provide the necessary certification for the safe destruction of halocarbons which means that carbon credits are produced and can be monetized. Our state-of-the-art process achieves the highest residual management recycling and all hazardous waste components are safety treated or destroyed. 3

Environmental impacts of Cooling Appliances CFC11 Foam: 450 gm (GHG s & sometimes ODS) CFC12 HCF22 Refrigerant gases: 125 gm (GHG s & sometimes ODS) HFC134a Up to 3,7 metric tons of CO 2 Foam: 2,2 metric tons of CO 2 Refrigerant gases: 1,5 metric tons of CO 2 Plastics Car driven 17,000 km Hazardous materials: Hg 1 à 1,5 gm 200 à 500 fluorescent bulbs Metals 4

Would you leave 3 tons of waste in your yard? An improperly recycled refrigerator causes as much damage as 3 tons of CO 2 released into the atmosphere. 5

Did you know? Just one improperly recycled refrigerator produces as much pollution as a car driven 17,000 km in one year! 6

We are the only company providing 96% recycling of refrigerators. Refrigerant gases Foam Plastic Metal Hazardous materials (oil, mercury switch, BCP capacitor) 7

Turnkey project: PureSphera closes the loop - circular economy 8

Cost per ton of Co 2 eq. PureSphera s has the most cost effective approach to achieve our greenhouse gas reduction targets in Canada. *Based on the MDDELCC and Québec Climate Change Action Plans 9

Our plant can reduce GHG emissions by as much as 500,000 tons a year, equivalent to taking some ~140,000 compact cars off the road. Our approach will also help protect the ozone layer for future generations. 10

Potential in Manitoba Must achieve transition between energy efficiency and an environmental program Reach, gather, inform, consult and involve ALL stakeholders Potential to achieve Climate Change Action Plans: mt of reduction/year Must provide incentives to modify current practices and black market 20

Potential in Manitoba EPR: Extended producer responsibility or a stewardship program are options Halocarbons management is a worldwide priority No equivalent cost per ton of CO 2 eq. for GHG reductions Technology exists to ensure state-of-the-art practices WRAPP and other climate change funding (carbon offsets) represent an opportunity to implement optimal management for end-of-life cold appliances 21

Our achievements GHG reduction since ,000 cooling appliances recycled Reduction of 1.2 million tons of CO tons of ODS (ozone-depleting substances) destroyed Recovery of 50,000 tons of raw materials steel, plastic, copper, aluminum, glass polyurethane powder, oil mercury More than 461,500 offset credits were sold under WCI 22
