Oklahoma Basin Studies Red River Focus Area Study Stakeholder Meeting, Wichita Falls, November 17, 2016 Reclamation s Lugert-Altus Reservoir, Oklahoma, 2012

Basin Study Foundation Basin Study Program part of Interior s WaterSMART Program Addresses 21st century water supply challenges Four major study elements identified in the Basin Studies Framework: Projections of water supply/demand An analysis of how existing water & power infrastructure/operations performs in the face of changing water realities Development of options to improve operations/infrastructure to supply adequate water in the future Trade-off anaysis of the options identified and findings and recommendations

Upper Washita Basin and Upper Red River Basin Study Objectives Characterize and quantify present and future water demands Conduct hydrologic investigations on select aquifers Evaluate various water management and use options Assess impacts on climate variability on future supply needs Assess operational/infrastructure needs of the reservoirs Evaluate alternatives to address infrastructure/supply issues

Reclamation Projects, Red River Basin

Upper Washita and Upper Red River Basins

Basin-Wide Planning: Problems & Needs Severe and prolonged drought affecting four Reclamation reservoirs Drought Monitor, August 2011 Drought Monitor, March 2015

Impacts on M&I, Agriculture Foss Reservoir Tom Steed Reservoir

Impacts on Recreation, Fish & Wildlife
