LIGHTING INCENTIVES FOR BUSINESS Retrofit and New Construction projects are eligible for incentives Prescriptive and performance based incentives are offered for installing high efficiency fixtures and lamps Incentives limited to the total equipment cost (including taxes)

EXAMPLES OF NO OR LOW COST LIGHTING MEASURES Utilize rebate program to replace medium base screw in incandescent lamps with LED lamps Replace incandescent or fluorescent exit signs with LEDs Nothing cheaper than when usage is zero Turn off lights when not in use or install occupancy sensors for low traffic areas i.e. storage rooms, meeting rooms, maintenance/janitor closets, back of house areas, etc. Remove unnecessary lamps Check light levels vs. Illuminating Engineering Society Standards (IES) to see if you have areas with too much lighting

LIGHTING REBATE PROJECT EXAMPLES University Stairwell Lighting Replaced (17) 112 Watt T8 24/7 stairwell lamps with 37 Watt LED stairwell fixtures with onboard occupancy sensors Estimated 13,260 annual kwh savings (~$1,300/year in cost savings) Rebate = $ School Gymnasium Replaced (12) 400 Watt MH gymnasium lights with 100 Watt LED fixtures. estimated 13,000 annual kwh savings (~$1,300/year in cost savings) Rebate = $ Grocery Store (24/7) Replaced 32 Watt T8 tubes 2/fixture with 20 Watt LED tubes in 1445 fixtures at 24 hour warehouse grocery store. Estimated 242,741 annual kwh savings (~$24,271/year in cost savings) Rebate = $12,137.06

HVAC INCENTIVES FOR BUSINESS Prescriptive incentives are offered for a wide variety of HVAC equipment Equipment must meet or exceed HVAC program guidelines Equipment must be used for ambient cooling only Incentives are capped at total equipment cost HVAC equipment NOT on prescriptive list could qualify under Custom Equipment Program HVAC equipment used for non ambient cooling could qualify under the Custom Equipment Program

EXAMPLES OF NO OR LOW COST HVAC MEASURES Optimize HVAC start times & set points, particularly if you have programmable thermostats or controls Potential rebate opportunities exist for retro commissioning or installation of control systems under the Custom program Preventative maintenance Filter changes, condenser coil cleaning, cooling tower coil cleaning All contribute to maintaining overall efficiency of HVAC equipment Pre season tune ups of HVAC equipment heading into cooling and heating seasons Verify proper and efficient operation of equipment

FOOD SERVICE INCENTIVES Prescriptive incentives are offered for a wide variety of Food Service equipment Program aimed at small commercial, industrial, gov t and institutional customers Equipment must be ENERGY STAR certified Only new equipment is eligible Incentives are capped at the total equipment cost Example Quick Serve Restaurant 1 commercial refrigerator = $50 rebate 1 ice machine = $50 rebate 2 hot food cabinets = $110 rebate each Est. annual kwh savings = 2,200 kwh Est. annual cost savings = $220

Prescriptive incentives are offered for energyefficient commercial appliances and electronics Program aimed at small commercial, industrial, gov t and institutional customers Equipment must be ENERGY STAR certified Only new equipment is eligible Incentives are capped at the total equipment cost Examples: 1 clothes washer/dryer = $50 rebate each Est. annual kwh savings = 975 kwh Est. annual cost savings = $97 20 PCs / Monitors= $100 Rebate ($5 each) Est. annual cost savings = $148 APPLIANCE & ELECTRONICS INCENTIVES

CUSTOM EQUIPMENT & BUILDINGS INCENTIVE PROGRAM Performance incentives are offered for equipment that does not meet the eligibility criteria for other prescriptive programs. Renewable energy and fuel switching projects are ineligible Incentive limited to 50% of total project cost Compressed air projects are eligible under the Custom Equipment Program New Construction Projects would fall under the Custom Buildings Program For the Custom Buildings Program projects must save a minimum of 20,000/kWh/year.

CUSTOM EQUIPMENT INCENTIVE PROGRAM CONT D Prescriptive incentives are offered for Variable Speed Drives (VFDs) and Three Phase Motors Eligible measures include VFDs installed on existing motors that drive fans, pumps, and other suitable applications Eligible measures include the installation of new, premium efficiency motors Incentive calculated on hp of motor controller or hp installed

EXAMPLES OF NO OR LOW COST FOR INDUSTRY & INSTITUTIONS Compressors Deemed Measures Compressors under 45 HP, drains, air knives, dryers Chiller scheduling in summer for schools Reduce operation during summertime off periods VFD s for HVAC Applications Cooling towers, pumping control, Constant Volume AHU Fans Turn process motors off during down periods Breaks and lunch line shifts Incorporate sensors and VFDs into process control

Compressed Air Leak Audit Large Manufacturer Leak Audit identified over 80 leaks and over 900,000 kwh in potential savings from fixing leaks Total leak repair cost, including material, is $16,000 Final determined annual savings based on data logging = 920,000 kwh ($92,000/year in cost savings) Rebate = $8,500 (50% of total project cost) CUSTOM REBATE PROJECT EXAMPLES Premium Efficient Motor Upgrade Customer replaced existing 30 HP motor with a premium efficiency motor Deemed savings for motor replacement based on upgraded premium efficiency and run hours = 37,966 kwh ($3,797/year in cost savings) Rebate = $600 ($20 / HP)

CUSTOM REBATE PROJECT EXAMPLES Central Plant Upgrade large manufacturer Customer replaced existing DX forced air and gas fired package HVAC units with new central water cooled chiller and boiler plant including VFD pump package and CHW and HW air handlers with VFDs integrated with existing control system. Baseline engineering analysis and modeling calculated over 6 million kwh savings Final determined savings through engineered post modeling and utility bill analysis resulted in a final determined annual savings in excess of 6 million kwh ($600,000/year in cost savings) Rebate = $300, Roof and Window upgrades School School district replaced existing roof and windows with more efficient roof and insulated glass windows Engineering calculations based on roof and window characteristics resulted in deemed annual savings of 21,231 kwh ($2,123/year in cost savings) Rebate = $1,061.55

AGRICULTURAL INCENTIVES Prescriptive incentives are offered for highefficiency agricultural equipment related to milking, cooling, ventilation and water systems Only new equipment is eligible Incentives are capped at the total equipment cost (excluding taxes) Example Retrofit of ceiling fans Large Diameter Ceiling Fans in Livestock Barn 2 Fans: $750 rebate/fan Estimated Total Savings: 21,000 kwh/year Estimate Cost Savings: $2,100/year

AUDIT PROGRAM SUMMARY Offered to commercial, industrial, governmental and institutional customers of FirstEnergy s Pennsylvania utilities Customer must retain a 3 rd party auditor to conduct an ASHRAE Level 2 audit of facilities that may recommend energy saving measures Qualifying audit recommended measures must be implemented within 18 months of completing the audit or before May 31, 2021 Incentive based on kwh saved Additional 5 cents per kwh savings for installed measure Not to exceed 50 percent of the audit cost or $10,000 (whichever is less) Incentive paid upon completion of the installation of qualifying audit recommended measures
