Dow Corning CI-2001 White Reflecting Coating Dow Corning CI-2001 is a highly reflective optical coating enhancing light output and efficiency with good resistance to environmental aging. It cures at room temperature to a tough, resilient and non-tacky surface PROVEN EFFICIENCY UL flammability rating recognized Advanced reflectivity compared to some paints and films Stable performance across lifetime exposed to T and UV DESIGN FLEXIBILITY Can be applied on large variety of substrates Can be applied on various shapes PROCESSABILITY Cures to a resilient, highly reflective surface Room temperature cure, no ovens required Mild heat acceleration (after solvent flash-off) can speed in-line processing Low viscosity enhances flow and fills in narrow gaps and spaces POTENTIAL APPLICATION: Reflector in Luminaries fixture Lightingboxes Mixing chambers Diffuse illumination over an extended area, Backlight Assemblies Coating on PCBs Integrating spheres Laser cavities Calibration targets Remote sensing Back panel display lighting Digital imaging, Scientific, film, video and photographic applications

CI-2001: How it works LED Output = Փ0 Reflector reflectance = η α percentage of light gets out of reflector directly Փd= Փ0 * α Reflected light: ՓR= Փ0*(1-α)* η Efficiency = [Փ0 * α + Փ0*(1-α)* η]/ Փ0 = [α + (1-α)* η]% Direct light Reflected light e.g. if 30% LED directly goes out, and reflectance of aluminum reflector is 82%, after applying CI coating, the reflectance of coated reflector is 96%. Thus, fixture efficiency is Before coating 87.4% After coating 97.2% The difference is bigger if 1) More light is controlled by reflector. 2) More optical elements in the system, such as lens, refractor etc.

Dow Corning CI-2001 White reflecting Coating Process Recommendation

Step One Shake the container in the paint shaker. Three cycles and 3 minutes per cycle. After shaking, leave the container settled for 24 hours.

Step Two Fill coating into a right size container for spray coating. In following slides, we re using a quarter can with flat top for example. For the safety consideration, we recommend ground all containers. Carefully pour CI-2001 into quarter can.

Step Three This is optional. People can use solvent to adjust viscosity for their application. In this slide, we re using OS-20 as solvent to dilute CI Again, we suggest to grounding all containers.

Step Four After mixing CI-2001 with OS-20, gently blend materials.

Step Five Measure the viscosity of CI-2001 to make sure it s properly for application. Repeat step three to five if necessary. Multiple equipment can be used to measure viscosity, such as viscosmeter, Zahn-cup etc.

Step Six Gently pour diluted CI-2001 to spray gun cup through filter. Cover the lid without tighten and let material de-air for 10 to 15 min before spraying it.
