2 STATUS/IMPACTS Overall stats 25 River Waterbodies - 7 good, 4 moderate, 13 poor, 1 bad. 10 Lakes 1 high, 5 good stats and 4 moderate stats. This incldes 6 monitored lakes (Fnshinagh (Logh), Forbes (Logh), Ree (Logh), Coosan L, Killinre Logh, Killinre L) and 4 extrapolated lakes Ora (Logh), Ross Logh, Creggan Logh, Doonis Logh. River Data Stats elements Rivers: 2 good water bodies are dictated by physchem, Q score dictates overall stats for the remaining River Waterbodies. Physchem is moderate in 1 moderate, 2 poor and 1 bad water body. Chemical stats not monitored. Lakes: Fnshinagh Logh - Driven by Macrophytes from 2007 with a Free Index vale in High stats Q4 spported by chlorophyll and ntrient parameters at low freqency in 2007 bt not spported by 'hypertrophic stats' based on single samples from This is a trlogh. Trloghs shold have a separate monitoring programme. Crrently on WFD lake programme. No confidence assigned becase it is a trlogh data retrned High stats for Chl and TP. Forbes Logh - Macrophytes sampled in 2003, old data, moderate- Q4, Chlorophyll oligotrophic, 2007 Chlorophyll mesotrophic and high. All high Ammonim and Total Phosphors, bt n= data, low freqency, Total Phosphors=moderate, n=7 and mg/l sampling of macrophyte retrned Good stats Q3. 52% 4% 28% 16% Ree Logh Chlorophyll mesotrophic, 2007 Chlorophyll Olgiotrophic and High stats; 2007 Total Phosphors not available. Zebra mssel present mst be good or worse TP=0.039 mg/l, moderate stats, adeqate freqency; rest I.e. Ammonim a\and Chlorophyll high stats Chl retrned high stats and TP eretrned Good satts bt only 6 samples. Coosan L - Macrophytes sampled in 2007, high stats -Q4, recent data, oligotrophic for chlorophyll and 2007, good for 2007 Ammonim n=6, Good stats for TP, n=11. Lake Data 10% Killinre Logh - Macrophytes sampled in 2007, high Q4 recent data, low confidence, Chlorophyll oligotrophic, 2007 Chlorophyll oligotrophic and high stats, zebra mssel present, Total Phosphors = mg/l good stats, low freqency data TP good stats with n=11, EPA data, adeqate freqency. Killinre L - Macrophytes sampled in 2007, good Q4 recent data, Chlorophyll oligotrophic, 2007 Chlorophyll oligotrophic and high stats, zebra mssel presents, 2007 Total Phosphors=0.017 mg/l, good stats, low freqency data TP=0.035 mg/l, n=11, adeqate data - moderate stats. More leaning toward moderate - changed stats. 40% 50% High Good Moderate Poor Bad Yet to be determined

3 STATUS/IMPACTS Possible Impacts - EPA Water Qality 2007 BALLYDANGAN Crrently nsatisfactory stats (Q3) CLOONEIGH Crrently good stats (Q4) CROSS (ROSCOMMON) Crrently nsatisfactory stats along river (Q3 and Q3-4) CURRAGHROE STREAM Crrently nsatisfactory stats (Q3) FEORISH (TARMONBARRY) Crrently nsatisfactory stats (Q2-3 and Q3) HIND Improvement in qality is noted in comparison with the 2002 srvey bt the Hind River was again moderately pollted over its length when srveyed in October Signs of possible toxicity were noted at Station 0300 (Ballymartin). The Hind River is affected by the seriosly pollted Jiggy River (qv) that flows throgh Roscommon Town. Investigation is reqired to pinpoint precise sorces of polltion within the town and to differentiate the impact of the new town wastewater treatment plant verss other polltion sorces in the town. JIGGY (HIND) No change in stats. Crrently nsatisfactory (Q1-2) MIHANBOY Crrently good stats (Q4) ROCKSAVAGE The Rocksavage was of borderline stats in October Oxygen satration was below 60% and while grondwater may be an inflence it lacked some of the more polltion-sensitive species normally fond at this location. SHANNON (Upper): Ecological stats remained nsatisfactory downstream of Roosky (1410) and Tarmonbarry (1510 and 1530). The macroinvertebrate fana at Ballyleage Bridge (1600) indicated a slight improvement in ecological condition. In addition to the ongoing thermal polltion at Lanesboro' (1600) where a water temperatre of 25.4 degrees was recorded, lxriant algal growths reflected some considerable etrophication. There was no change in ecological condition at Athlone (1720) were the dominance of polltion tolerant macroinvertebrate, excessive siltation and enhanced weed and macroalgal growth contined to indicate significant ecological disrption.

Septic Tanks: At Risk septic tanks are to be prioritised for inspections. Sbseqent pgrade or connection to mnicipal systems depends on inspection and economic tests. Other diffse sorces may need recommandations. Morphological pressres in the Logh Ree-River Hind WMU reqire 3 channelisation investigation to establish if spplementary measres are reqired to address water qality isses associated with morphology. Abstractions - Ftre abstractions licensing programme and assessment. Throghot the river basin management cycle ftre pressres and developments will need to be managed to ensre compliance with the objectives of the Water Framework Directive and the Programme of Measres will need to be developed to ensre isses associated with these new pressres are addressed. 0 New Modifications or Development.
