Hydrofaction : Advanced Biofuels from Stranded Biomass

A Global Leader in Biomass to Transport Fuel Hydrofaction : A proven thermochemical proprietary process with over 100 patents pending or granted Efficiently converts biomass into bio-crude oil and fully compatible transport fuels including: ü ü ü ü Aviation Diesel Marine Petro-chems Validated by industrialists and granting authorities June,

A Global Leader in Biomass to Transport Fuel Corporate Video June,

Technology: The Chemistry of Hydrofaction Hydrofaction is a proprietary take on hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) optimized to produce higher yields of bio-fuels. Hydrofaction uses super critical chemistry (±400 and ±330 bar) to transform low-energy density feedstocks into liquid fuels. Hydrofaction removes Oxygen (O) from the organic molecular structure, increasing the H-C ratio and the energy density of the hydrocarbon equivalent Bio-crude. The US DOE recognize HTL as being an exceptionally cost and resource efficient technology for production of biofuels with the greatest potential GHG mitigation, especially in heavy and long-haul transport June,

Benefits of Hydrofaction High conversion efficiency ü Thermal efficiency >80% NO need to dry feedstock ü Wet feedstock directly converted Commercial Ready ü Thousands of operating hours at pilot ü Scaling up to a Demonstration Plant ü Working with some of Europe s largest renewable energy companies Strong IP Position ü 100+ patents - pending and granted ü 21 patent families June,

Uniqueness of Hydrofaction and Hydrofaction Oil Petroleum-like advanced biofuels ü Targeting sectors incompatible with electrification Compatible with existing petroleum infrastructure ü Upgradable to diesel and jet fuels ü Base input for renewable lubes and chemicals Significant GHG reduction ü 75%+ fewer CO 2 emissions compared to fossil (well-to-wheel) ü Opportunity for carbon-negative fuel (Liquid CO 2 Capture) June,

Hydrofaction Mass and Energy Balances On a mass basis, Hydrofaction produces 453 kg of biocrude for every 1000 oven-dry tonnes equivalent of woody biomass On an energy basis, Hydrofaction produces 86.6 GJ of biocrude for every 100 GJ of woody biomass and 6.19 of external energy in the form of electricity June,

Near Term Growth Strategy - Forestry Q2 2012: First Equity Raise Q2 2013: ½ BPD Pilot Plant Operational Q3 2016: Agreement in place with Strategic Partner Q3 2019: Demo Plant Operational Q2 2020: Commercial Plant Investment Decision Q2 2021: First Commercial Plant Operational Q4 2022: 1 st Self Developed Plant Operational Today June,

Next Step in Forestry: Commercialization in two phases Silva Green Fuel A/S ü Four years of due-diligence chose HTL and Steeper among 40 technologies Phase 1: Demonstration & De-Risking Plant ü Scale-down of 2000 BPD commercial design ü 50M Project in Tofte, Norway ü Off-the-shelf sub-components at commercial-scale Phase 2: Commercial Project ü Two independent engineering studies completed for commercial 2000 BPD facility ü 2000 Barrels-per-day or 100,000 metric tons per year June,

Summary HTL is arguably the most efficient thermochemical platform to convert biomass into bio-crude oil; Steeper Energy brings a highly efficient version of HTL and is on track to commercial viability in forestry ü Silva Green Fuel licensed Hydrofaction after screening 40 technologies ü First phase of two phase commercial project underway in Norway It takes a village to raise a child ü Bioeconomy will be built through everyone s success stories ü Messaging to market must be consistent ü HTL sector must have a common voice to achieve market and regulatory recognition June,
