1 Merpro Tore Lance - Technology Document WHAT IS TORELANCE? ToreLance is a water driven portable tool which moves solids by firstly fluidizing them into a slurry then jet pumps the slurry through a hose pipe to a desired location. It is currently produced in 1 and 2 sizes. A 1 ToreLance can transport up to 4 tons per hour. A 2 ToreLance can transport up to 16 tons per hour WHAT CAN TORELANCE DO? The ToreLance is a mobile system and can be used to remove sludge from difficult to reach areas of tanks / pits etc. ToreLance will hydro transport most solids such as sand, grit, mud, etc. HOW DOES TORELANCE WORK? Tore fluidizes the solids to be transported then the jet pump provides the motive force for fluidized solids transportation. The Tore device enables the level of fluidization to be accurately controlled to give the maximum desirable concentration of solids in the outlet line. Water is fed to the ToreLance via a flexible hose and the operating valve is adjusted to regulate distribution of the water to either the jet pump or slotted Tore. The jet pump provides suction and motive force for transportation of the solids while the water exiting the Tore generates a vortex to fluidize the solids and control the flow of slurry to the jet pump. Both the 1 and 2 ToreLance are designed to operate with a maximum feed pressure of 12 Barg; the feed flow required being 9 and 36 m³/hr respectively. The exact feed pressure required to transport the solids over a given distance and the discharge slurry concentration is dependant on the nature of the solids and the routing for the discharge pipework. However, during tests, a 1 Tore successfully transported sand (SG = 2.6) at rates of up to 1.2 te/hr over a level distance of 46 meters. 4 FEATURES AND BENEFITS: Provides an easy rapid removal of solids, sludge and slurries from tanks, vessel, pits, sewers, etc. Allows solids to be removed from confined or difficult to reach spaces, where digging with spades is not possible Eliminates the need to handle heavy items such as buckets, drums, or bags during solids removal Quiet in operation APPLICATIONS: Remove solids and sludge from tanks and vessels Remove sludge from sewers Feed solids to systems such as Tore Scrub to clean solids; or reintroducing solids into the inlet of a reactor clarifier Boost the slurry flowrate out of liquid filled caissons or wells ToreLance in operation, removing mill scale from a pit. 4
