Presentation Part 1: Crosstown Background, Key Developments & Construction Update 4

What was determined in 2010 Keele to Jane Section A street-level LRT alignment on the following panel was approved through a study (Transit Project Assessment) in

2010 Alignment (Street Level) 6

What we heard in Community Concerns were raised during the previous study. The new study will address these: Traffic concerns at Black Creek Drive Pedestrian Crossings at Weston Road Property impacts in the vicinity of Weston Road Plan for Crosstown connection to GO Transit 7

Key Project Developments since 2010 An off-street (elevated) route is now proposed from a portal west of Keele Street to Black Creek Underground LRT is now proposed from Black Creek to Weston Road An underground Weston Rd/Mt Dennis Station is now proposed, just east of Weston Road Protecting for future GO Transit connection Preliminary plans are developing to retain Kodak Building 8

Proposed New Route Alignment 2012 This project includes construction to Weston Rd/Mt Dennis Station to be complete in 2020 The timing and construction method for Weston Road to Jane Street is TBD through further study 9

Potential Benefits of the New LRT Route Proposal Improve access to the proposed Vehicle Maintenance and Storage Facility (MSF) Build a new underground LRT station near Weston Road Improve pedestrian connections at the newly proposed Station Provide a new bus terminal for connection to proposed Weston Road/Mount Dennis Station Preserve the former Kodak Employees Building for future re-development Protect for a future GO Transit to Crosstown LRT connection A new study will now assess the pros and cons of the design changes and identify measures to mitigate any impacts such as those related to Weston Rd/Mt Dennis Station. 10

The Eglinton Crosstown Plan km Rapid Transit Line (Jane/Black Creek Drive to Kennedy Station) 10 km Underground Tunnel (Keele Area to Laird Drive*) SRT Replacement, Enhancement & Extension from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue East 60% faster than bus service today * Exact alignment west of Keele Street TBD through this study 11

The Crosstown 2012 *Final number and location of stations subject to Provincial review 60% faster than current bus routes 15 minutes from Keele to Yonge 12

Implementation The Keele to Weston Rd/Mt Dennis Station segment is part of the Province of Ontario s $8.4 Billion investment for Transit expansion in Toronto Crosstown Phase 1 ( ) Tunnel contract for Keele to Yonge and Keelesdale Park Bridge are currently being tendered for bids 6 LRT Stations are currently under design (Keele to Chaplin) Future Community Centre Future Bridge 13

Crosstown Construction Update Tunnel preparation work at Black Creek and Eglinton in Keelesdale Park Piling rigs are building concrete support walls for the future west tunnel launch shaft The west launch shaft will enable tunnelling works in late 2012 towards Allen Road 14

Presentation Part 2: Route Alignment Update Keele Street to Jane Street 15

Guiding Principles The plans being presented today are conceptual, and will be refined over the coming months to: Minimize impacts to the natural environment Reduce property impacts if possible Minimize costs Minimize impacts to buildings Enhance access to vehicle facility 16

Study Areas * * For future study 17

Study Processes Transit Project Assessment (TPAP) The alignment study focuses on the proposed changes to the approved Eglinton-Crosstown LRT plan, and will assess the impacts of the changes using the same assessment factors as the previous study. The public will be provided opportunities to review and comment on the assessment of the impacts of the proposed design changes, and measures to mitigate those impacts. The impact assessment and results of the study will be documented in a report for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT Project. The Vehicle Facility will also undergo study under the TPAP 27

Environmental Impact Assessment and Mitigation of the Project As part of the Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP), the project team will: Document the assessment and evaluation of the impacts of the project on the environment; Explore and incorporate measures to mitigate negative impacts of the project; and, Develop means to monitor or verify the effectiveness of mitigation measures. The project team includes natural, socio-economic and cultural environment specialists such as: air quality geotechnical safety archaeological health effects natural environment economic heritage traffic fisheries noise The results of the impact assessment will be documented and reviewed by various government agencies and members of the public. The following display provides a summary of the issues that will be explored. 28
