1 Overnight School Trip Objectives: to provide students with experiential and hands on learning in the life and earth science Next Generation Standards; foster self reliance, promote stewardship of natural resources, build community, An additional $50 80 should be added for the cost of transportation. All prices are subject to change. Other costs for the year include science/art materials, end of the year recognition assembly, field trips to the Mather Field vernal pools and Intel. Camp and Location Description of Activities Accommodations COST Walden West Saratoga 147 mi 2 hrs 30 min or.asp Visiting schools come for a 4 5 day program where the students explore an outdoor classroom with experienced naturalists and stay in cabins overnight. We focus on teaching state science standards through hands on learning while exposing students to new social settings, getting them outside, and providing them with new experiences. Students leave the program with a new sense of personal responsibility, independence and understanding of the natural world around them. Girls and boys have separate cabins! Students are able to pick their own beds within the cabin and will place luggage underneath. Students can bring sleeping bags or blankets, whichever is most comfortable for them. All cabins are heated, though it may be a little cool at night. Other than the lunch that students bring the first day, all meals will be provided by experienced cooks in our dining hall. Our two to five day residential outdoor science programs are led by experienced educators and customized to enhance your school s curriculum. Environmental education in a national park: Located just minutes from San Francisco, students can explore the shores of Rodeo Beach as well as 60 miles of coastal hillsides rich with beaches, cliffs, estuary, chaparral, and woodlands. The creek, pond, organic garden, and rich riparian habitat provide a diversity of ecosystems for hands on exploration and field study. The creek, pond, organic garden, and rich riparian habitat provide a diversity of ecosystems for hands on exploration and field study. The Outdoor School's museum and Miwok grinding rock offer unique opportunities for lessons on cultural history as well. Evening programs We have five lodges that can each sleep up to 66 people (pictured above), one that holds 60, and another that holds 50. These dormitory style buildings are equipped with bunk beds, showers, and toilet facilities. Campers need to bring their own toiletries and bedding: sleeping bags and pillows work best. We serve kid friendly meals and plenty of food to keep everyone fueled up for classes in the forest. 3 days 2 nights $175/student $1,110.00

Anyone can help themselves to fresh fruit that is available all day long. During the school year our teaching staff supervises our Food Waste Program where we focus on reducing the amount of food entering the waste stream by feeding leftovers to pigs. Yosemite Nature Bridge Curry Village Yosemite 128 miles 3 hours In our classroom, students have the unique opportunity to observe, experience, and personally connect with nature in Yosemite National Park. Our core academic emphases are: Life Science & Ecology Watershed Studies Earth Science & Geology Cultural History Current Environmental Issue Renovated Curry Village accommodations In collaboration with the National Park Service and the California Department of Public Health, Delaware North Companies (the park s concessioner) in January 2013 removed the 91 double wall signature tent cabins located in Curry Village and replaced them with single wall, heated tent cabins. With recommendations from the California Department of Public Health, the new tent cabin designs includes the following: Sealed floorboards in tent cabin platforms Tent canvas secured to the foundation Doors equipped with sweeps to minimize gaps between the door and floor Single wall canvas (instead of double) with 18 oz canvas walls will provide additional

5 5 warmth in winter Cabins are being checked, cleaned, and sanitized as part of daily maintenance using protocols established by the Centers for Disease Control. MOSS Mendocino 219 miles 4 hours MOSS explores a new natural community each day. Field groups enjoy hands on activities investigating the redwood forest, fresh water stream, rocky shore tide pools and estuary. The concepts of habitat, adaptation, energy flow, nutrient cycling and interdependence are highlighted and reinforced in each ecosystem. four bed tent cabins, each with a wooden floor and canvas tent over a wooden frame.
