2 1 August 2013 MEDIA RELEASE Lynas 100% compliant with environmental regulations o No increase in radiological risk o Waste water discharge below permissible limits o All air emission levels below permissible limits Real time, independent monitoring continuing Results publicly available through independent parties Lynas Corporation Limited (ASX: LYC) (OTCQX: LYSDY) is pleased to provide the following environmental monitoring data from its Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (LAMP) at Gebeng, Pahang. The results verify Lynas absolute compliance with Malaysian radiation, air and water quality standards. Under the terms of Lynas Temporary Operating Licence, the Malaysian Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) and Department of Environment (DOE) conduct real time monitoring of emissions from the LAMP. The results are publicly available through prominent, real time displays at the LAMP and on the AELB and DOE websites. Lynas Malaysia Managing Director/Vice President Dato Mashal Ahmad said the real time publication of the emissions monitoring was part of Lynas commitment to absolute transparency to the local community. Importantly, the results of the independent, scientific monitoring proved total compliance with Malaysia s environmental regulations, he said. Lynas is committed to zero harm in everything we do and the results from the independent monitoring show that we are achieving that goal every day while providing jobs for the local community and cementing Malaysia s reputation as a destination for high value industry, Dato Mashal said. Lynas has invested in a world class plant and emissions technology and the results show we are not even close to the upper limits set for our operations. The results provide independent validation of our commitment to safe operations. 1 of 7

3 The following tables provide a breakdown of environmental monitoring in the three core areas: radiation, air and water emissions. MONITORING PERIOD: Radiological Monitoring: April 2013 June 2013 Waste Water Monitoring: February June 2013 Air Emission Monitoring: January April 2013 A. RADIOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING Aerosol Monitoring System (AMS-02) conducted and reported by AELB. Detection and measurement of external radiation levels recorded at two locations, LAMP and at the Police Station (IPD) in Kuantan. RESULTS SUMMARY: Continuous real-time and online monitoring of external radiation levels are shown in Table 1. All radiation readings show levels equal to that of the background and/or well below the permissible limit. There has been no increase in radiological risk to the local community as a result of the LAMP s operation. Table 1: External radiation levels in the environment measured using AMS- 02 at the LAMP site and the IPD Kuantan. 1 LOCATION (sampling date) LAMP 27/4-27/6/ Kuantan (IPD Kuantan) 27/4-27/6/2013 * Permissible Limit PARAMETERS External radiation External radiation CURRENT LEVEL usv/h usv/h BACK- GROUND LEVEL usv/h usv/h PL* (excl backgnd) % OF PL* 0.5 usv/h 0.6% 0.5 usv/h 2.2% Note: Background level refers to measurements conducted prior to LAMP commissioning The current level of radiation at the LAMP is equal to the background level in Kuantan, demonstrating no radiological impact noticed. 2 of 7
