2 From the initial idea to turn-key implementation For more than twenty years, the name VTU has stood for progress and know-how in process and plant engineering. Our strength lies in the attention to and implementation of individual process and customer requirements. Our knowledge about the applicability of a process, the adaptation to specific tasks and customer standards and the development of a clear objective together with you, provide for ideal results. We manufacture special equipment that supports your production processes or makes them feasibly in the first place. Your problems are our inspiration to come up with solutions. Through our large experience in various industries we are intimately familiar with the requirements of process engineering and operation. With high-tech simulation tools and on-site pilot plants your optimum process is developed and realized professionally afterwards. Solvent Recovery Organic solvents are widely used in the industry. As a consequence, large amounts of liquid waste with contaminated solvents must be disposed of. VTU offers tailor-made systems that reduce both the need of fresh solvents and the amount of contaminated solvents: Continuous or discontinuous distillation Rectification in vacuum and pressure systems Membrane processes Extraction processes We deliver industrial plants to cope with the challenges of changing compositions of the crude product, the occurrence of light ends and pollutants while at the same time complying with tight product specifications. Economically attractive is in particular the ultrapurification of solvents. This is for example necessary in pharmaceutical production processes in order to meet the highest quality standards. We have extensive experience with two-component and multicomponent systems, e.g. with methanol, ethanol, butyl acetate, ethyl acetate, hexane, dichloromethane, glycerol, isopropanol, MTBE, MEK, etc.

3 Process Development Concept Simulation Experiments Engineering Delivery Erection Start-up Training Your advantages: Experience in several industries VTU on-site pilot plants Excellente engineering competentce High flexibility and adaption to our customers Waste-air Purification Waste-air is produced with more or less severe pollution in many industrial production processes and thus has to be purified appropriately. VTU develops and supplies sophisticated plant solutions for this purpose. Pollutants are often harmful to the environment, but they can also be useful materials for production. In two steps, the pollutants are first separated from the polluted waste air and subsequently treated according to the composition required for your process. Thereby you save the environment and increase your cost effectiveness. We manufacture vent-gas scrubbers ranging from simple spray absorbers to complex special designs with compelling results: Jet or packed scrubbers Absorption scrubbers with pure water Oxidation scrubbers Special-purpose scrubbers We supply waste-air purification systems worldwide that have been specifically designed according to the respective application, e.g. chemistry, non-ferrous metallurgy, pickling plants, galvanizing plants, foundries, hardening shops or metal working.

4 Wastewater Treatment Production processes require resources. A very important one is water. It is used for conditioning, processing, cooling, cleaning, etc. and is polluted during these processes. Based on years of research and experience, VTU has developed coolox water technology. Persistent organic pollutants in water are fully decomposed. In a unique process combination the most effective AOPs (Advanced Oxidation Processes) are combined. This is achieved by adapting electrochemical, photochemical and catalytic processes to the specific requirements and combining them intelligently. Our multi-stage concep for your turn-key plant Analysis: adaptation to the given conditions and strengths of the various AOPs. Substance catalogue: utilisation of data collected from research, laboratory tests, pilot tests, etc. to identify best practices and process combinations. Laboratory tests: state-of-the-art lab analyses and water analytics with modern electrochemical and photochemical equipment. Pilot testing: on-site testing with our mobile pilot plant. Where other technologies hit their limits, coolox offers solutions to meet current and future water quality standards: 100% pollutant elimination Degradation of persistent/toxic pollutants Total degradation (COD, TOC) In-situ production of oxidants Fully-automated operation Low operating costs and low space requirements Individually tailored solution

5 Reference plants: Ammonia waste gas scrubber with NH3 recovery without the use of chemicals Subsystems for fully automated fermentation Optimised photochemical systems for surface reactions Plants for calibration solutions with exact gas equilibrium Fully automatic solvent recovery in the pharmaceutical sector Mobile refrigeration stations in the downstream area Multi-component distillation Extraction / re-extraction methods in production and wastewater treatment Isolation of pharmaceutical ethanol from fermentation mash Company Portrait The companies of the VTU Group are developers, engineers and suppliers of processing plants in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, oil & gas, and power industries. We focus on process engineering and on comprehensive project management from conceptual design to final commissioning. Furthermore we deliver turn-key solutions for customized process plants. Process engineers, chemical engineers, bioengineers and plant engineers all draw on their extensive experience to plan a wide array of plants from pharmaceutical production to hazardous waste recycling. You too can benefit from our high level of technical competence and know-how in project management. VTU Engineering s sustained success since it was established in 1990 rests on two pillars. High qualified engineers In addition to their technical know-how, VTU engineers excel through high capability for teamwork in many different project environments. Permanent training and a proven knowledge management system are a guarantee that our customers receive best expertise. Customer orientation The objective of the project is the objective of our work. Achieving our customers goals and providing solutions of excellent quality and benefit are top priorities of our project teams. Consequently, a very high percentage of our customers cooperate with VTU since many years.
