The company s geothermal team has over 30 years of technical and management experience in the geothermal industry. We also have a core team of geoscientists and engineers who are holders of degrees from Geothermal Institutes in Iceland, Italy, New Zealand and Japan. EDC s success story is essentially the history of geothermal in the Philippines. From virtually nil prior to the 1970 oil crisis, the country rapidly developed its geothermal resources in its unstoppable bid to become the world s second largest geothermal producer in only five years after commissioning its 3-MW pilot plant in We took on the challenge, and succeeded, in developing the world s largest wet steamfield in Leyte with an installed capacity of 701 MW. The steamfield also houses the world s biggest geothermal power station under one roof. We scaled summits and surpassed our own record by developing the most challenging project in the highest mountain in the Philippines. The Mt. Apo geothermal project is recognized as the model of sustainable energy development project in the country. Our geothermal fields have an aggregate installed capacity of 1,130 MW and our power generation facilities have a total installed capacity of 1,130 MW. The oil crisis brought out the pioneers and innovative in us. We mastered a groundbreaking technology and transformed our own volcanic steam resources into usable electrical power. 2 3

10 Environmental Management Beyond compliance is our deep commitment to environmental stewardship, which finds its concrete expression in our Corporate Environmental Management Policy. We practice resource regeneration following the natural cycles of the environment. Our zero discharge practice uses a system of minimal wastage and proper re-injection of water resources. By protecting and enhancing the forest cover in our work sites, we ensure the delivery of optimum forest goods and services that help in the recharge of the geothermal reservations. We enhance biodiversity and the ecosystem in areas where we operate. Our programs and services include: Formulation of Environmental and Watershed Management Systems, Policies, Plans and Programs Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Airshed Delineation/Establishment Watershed Technical Services Laboratory Analytical Services We are planting the seeds necessary for a nationwide reforestation and biodiversity restoration with the flagship watershed management program called BINHI. The BINHI program aims for a broad-scale reforestation using prime endangered Philippine tree species. BINHI rethinks the whole idea of reforestation, focusing on the highly valued Philippine tree species that can also provide forest services. We will bring back those that are vanishing and are endemic to the Philippines. BINHI will carry out the greening legacy envisioned to reforest the Philippines in a new, more specific and measurable approach. This is our contribution to the collective effort on regreening the planet. The BINHI initiative is one of the Lopez family s commitments to the Clinton Global Initiative
