13 On-Site Treatment Systems Proceed with caution; do your due diligence Questions to Ask The BS Detector Checklist Is it a dehydrator? Are they claiming you can use this dehydrated food as a fertilizer? Are they suggesting you can send it to a commercial composter? Is it a liquefier? Are they expecting you to put it down the drain? Is your sewer agency ok with that? Are there enzymes or to buy regularly? How much does that cost? Will the company be around to supply them? Is there a requirement for the tank to be regularly emptied by the vendor? How much water does it use? How much electricity does it use? Can you use the finished products (i.e. compost, liquid effluent) without further processing? Are you sure? Does the vendor have proof for any of these answers?
