3 Formed in 2006 by principles behind province-wide network of Scotian WindFields, key community stakeholders and local business leaders including Supply Chain. Based in Westport, Brier Island with primary project sites in South-West Nova and Cape Breton. Shareholders & Board Members are Individuals & Businesses from all key communities: Westport, Tiverton, Digby, Bear River, Weymouth, Meteghan, Saulnierville, Yarmouth, etc. Vision of community ownership and management and maximizing socioeconomic opportunities to local communities and businesses

4 In April 2010, the NS government introduced a provincial Renewable Electricity Plan that makes the commitment to 25% renewable electric power by 2015 law and an objective of 40% renewable electricity by 2020 Combination of large scale projects implemented by a) Nova Scotia Power Inc., b) independent power producers, c) community-based power projects encouraged by a community feed-in-tariff program (COMFIT), and d) enhanced net metering. 300 MW of Renewable Energy, 100MW via COMFIT

8 April Nova Scotia RE Plan September 19, COMFIT Applications accepted December project applications Around 90% of applications for wind projects. Of these, most are large wind (>50 kw). Ten percent of wind projects submitted so far are small wind projects. Several applications submitted for biomass and instream tidal projects. Most project proposals are for 2-4 MW projects. Applicants come from all areas of Nova Scotia, representing a diverse array of community-based entities.

9 December 16, The Department of Energy approves the first round of projects under the Community Feed-in Tariff (COMFIT) program on February 25, The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board has officially approved the COMFIT Power Purchase Agreement. March 19, The first COMFIT projects have started producing electricity to power local homes and businesses.

10 Three 50 kilowatt (kw) small-wind projects owned by the Municipality of the County of Pictou in Riverton Two 50 kw small-wind projects in Cheticamp owned by the Port Hood & District Recreation Commission, a local not-for-profit organization A 1.8 megawatt (MW) large-wind project owned by Membertou Development Corporation in partnership with Watts Wind Energy (a CEDIF) in Lower Wedgeport Cape Breton University (CBU) approval for a 5.4 megawatt largewind project, jointly owned with Cape Breton Explorations Ltd. A 4.4 MW large-wind project located in Millbrook owned by Eskasoni First Nation One 6.0 MW biomass (combined heat and power) project located in Sydney owned by Cape Breton Explorations 1.95 MW small-scale tidal at Digby Gut owned by Fundy Tidal
