15 Stirling thermodynamic cycle Step 1: Compression Helium gas is compressed Gas temperature rises Step 2: Cooling Compression heat is removed; The helium gas is pre-cooled in the regenerator before expansion starts Step 3: Expansion By expansion, energy is extracted from the gas and thereby the temperature goes down thus cooling the cold head Step 4: Displacement Gas is displaced back to the compression space; the cold from the helium gas is stored in the regenerator during displacement to step 1 Regenerator

17 Methane gas specifications The methane gas to be fed to the cryogenerators shall be of a quality that prevents clogging of the heat-exchanger Main stream CH4 CxHy (C2 to C4) < 10% CxHy (C5+) < 1 ppm CO2 < 50 ppm* H2O < -70ºC dew point H2S < 3,3 ppm Oil content < 0,01 mg/m3 Particles < 0,1 micron N2/O2 < 10%, (non-condensable to be vented)

26 (Re-)liquefaction by LNG liquid cooling Using the existing pump of an LNG fueling station, LNG from the tank is circulated through the cryogenerator The liquid is cooled, reducing its temperature The liquid is fed back to the tank, spraying it at the top. The cold liquid will condense gas, reducing pressure of the tank. At the same time the liquid content is cooled, absorbing heat penetrating the tank insulation
