3 RHEOLOGY MODIFIERS The choice of the right thickener system is a critical step in designing waterborne systems. Rheology modifiers positively impact major characteristics of formulations all along the value chain, from production until the end-use. They are mainly chosen for their efficiency and ability to deliver the desired rheology balance. In coatings, the perfect combination of thickeners will provide improved hiding power and anti-spattering with the desired balance between leveling and sag resistance, without impacting other film properties. In adhesives and sealants, rheology modifiers will enable to fine-tune the body and structure, the gunnability and ease of application while keeping an excellent slump resistance without impacting ageing, mechanical properties and weatherability. 4 DISPERSING AGENTS From plasters to pigment pastes, from the coarsest extender to the finest pigment, stability, shelf life and optical properties are directly linked to the state of dispersion. The wide variety of pigments and extenders involved in the industry requires the use of well adapted dispersing agents. In coatings, the use of the right dispersing agent will enable a better color development, a higher pigment loading and an improved stability. In adhesives and sealants, dispersing agents will allow to increase the filler loading while keeping a decent viscosity. ECODIS COADIS A full range of polyacrylic dispersing agents focused on flat to silk systems.
