SEFCRI STRATEGIC DOCS SEFCRI Local Action Strategy (LAS) Florida s Coral Reef Management Priorities

SEFCRI STRATEGIC DOCS SEFCRI Local Action Strategy (LAS) Florida s Coral Reef Management Priorities FDEP Coral Reef Conservation Program Strategic Plan

SEFCRI STRATEGIC DOCS- LOCAL ACTION STRATEGY (LAS) Developed in 2003 by a team of interagency and non-agency marine resource professionals, scientists, resource users and other stakeholders known as the Southeast Florida Coral Reef Initiative (SEFCRI) Team Outlines strategic goals and objectives under 4 focus areas: land based sources of pollution (LBSP); fishing, diving & other uses (FDOU), awareness & appreciation (AA), and maritime industry & coastal construction impacts (MICCI) Includes 140 projects that have been the focus of SEFCRI for 11+ years. 128 projects have been implemented or are underway. OFR is based on one of these projects. SEFCRI Team plans to update this document following the Our Florida Reefs Community Planning Process

SEFCRI STRATEGIC DOCS- FLORIDA S CORAL REEF MANAGEMENT PRIORITIES Developed in 2009 by place based coral reef managers along the Florida Reef Tract ((FDEP CRCP, FDEP State Parks, FWC, Counties, FKNMS, National Park Service (Biscayne, Everglades and Dry Tortugas), US Fish and Wildlife Service)) Identification or reef tract wide (St. Lucie Inlet down to Dry Tortugas) strategic goals and objectives under 4 focus areas: land based sources of pollution; fishing, diving & other uses; impacts of climate change; and integrated reef management Process facilitated by NOAA CRCP but priorities set by place based Florida coral reef managers

SEFCRI STRATEGIC DOCS- FDEP CRCP STRATEGIC PLAN Developed in 2011 by FDEP CRCP staff considering input from SEFCRI Team members and stakeholders Purpose to set the vision, mission and goals of the FDEP CRCP, that provide program direction, guide the development of annual work plans and facilitate ecosystembased, adaptive management of southeast Florida s reefs Based on review of national and Florida coral reef strategies (see appendix 1) Includes key elements of FDEP CRCP: SEFCRI, Reef Injury Prevention and Response, Other programmatic activities Includes goals, objectives and strategies under 3 key headings: CRCP Capacity, Education and Outreach, and Coral Reef Ecosystem Conservation
