7 Alexandrium catenella Alexandrium produces saxitoxin. Saxitoxin accumulates in filter feeders. Responsible for PSP in humans who ingest contaminated shellfish. World s second highest toxin level found in Whidbey Basin, (30, μgstxeq/100g shellfish meat). Highest (31,000) in BC waters.
