1 NMDC Limited Arid Limestone Project, Arid, District: Solan ill.p.) Sub: Six Monthly EC Progress Report for the period from Apr 2016 to Sept Ref:Environmental Clearance no: No.J-11015/82/2009-IA.II(M), dt Specific Conditions: SN l' Conditions The project proponent shall obtain Consent to Establish and Consent to operate from the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board and effectively implement all the conditions stipulated therein The environmental clearance is subject to approval of the State Land use Department, Government of Himachal Pradesh for diversion of agricultural land for non-agricultural use. Necessary forestry clearance under the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 shall be obtained from the competent authority for the forestland involved in the project The environment clearance IS subject to grant of forestry clearance to the project The mining operations shall be restricted to above ground water table and it should not intersect the groundwater table. In case of working below the ground water table, prior approval of the Ministry of Environment and Forests and the Central Ground Water Authority shall be obtained, for which a detailed hydro-geological study shall be carried out. Compliance To obtain 'Consent to Establish' (CTE) from Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board, submitted 2 copies of the certain documents including Mining Plan etc. at HPSPCB, Parwanoo on Online application has been submitted on Matter is pending due to lack of NOCs from the concerned Gram Panchayats. Obtained Final Forest Clearance from the MoEF & CC, New Delhi vide letter no. F. No. 8-39/1994-FC, dt, for diversion of Ha Forest land falling under Ha Mining Lease. An amount ofrs crore has been deposited on in the CAMPA Alc as charges for Compensatory Afforestation in 168 Ha (double of the Ha diverted forest land); Safety Zone in 3.67 Ha (Fencing, protection & regeneration) and NPV of" the forest area. Deposited Rs Lakh on to the State Forest Deptt. towards charges for tree felling in the Ha divertedforest land. As per EWEMP studies, all benches will plan to be work above ground water level. Further, there will no ground water tapping for mining and mineral processing purpose. The mining activities will not puncture the ground water table during it's life time. The ground water table is not anticipated to be polluted, as there are no harmful ingredients, which could leach and puncture down to water table. 2 The project proponent shall ensure that no natural watercourse and/or water resources including the first and second order streams, nallahs etc. are obstructed due to any mining operations. The top soil shall temporarily be stored at earmarked site(s) only and it should not be kept unutilized for long. The topsoil shall be used for land reclamation and plantation. The over burden (OB) generated during the mining operation shall be stacked at earmarked dump site(s) only and it should not be kept active for a long period of time and their phase-wise stabilization shall be carried out. There shall be two external dumps having maximum height of 10m having two terraces of 5m each. Proper terracing of OB dump(s) shall be carried out so that the overall slope shall not exceed 280. The over burden dump(s) shall be scientifically vegetated with suitable native species to prevent erosion and surface run off In critical areas, use of geo textiles shall be undertaken for stabilization of the dumps. Monitoring and management of rehabilitated areas should continue until the vegetation becomes self-sustaining. Compliance status should be submitted to the Ministry of Environment & Forests and its Regional Office, Dehradun on six monthly basis. Catch drains and siltation ponds of appropriate size shall be constructed for the working pit, soil, mineral and OB dump(s) to arrest flow of silt and sediment directly into the private land, the Arki ki Khad, a perennial nallah and other water bodies. The water so collected should be utilized for watering the mine area, roads, green belt development etc. The drains should be regularly de-silted As per EIAIEMP studies, there will no impact on any of the watercourses surrounding the ML area. It is estimated that only tonnes of solid waste will be generated during the life of the mine which will be disposed-off in the form of two external dumps. That will be used for land reclamation and plantation. Noted and it is estimated that tonnes of solid waste will be generated during the life of the mine which will be disposed-off in the form of two external dumps. The maximum heights of the dumps will be 10 meter having two terraces of 5 meter each. No backfilling is proposed. Plantation will be raised in an area of 53.3 Ha at the end of 25 th year of mining operation As per MoEF letter no: F. No. 8-39/1994-FC, dt 'A Plan for Mitigative Measures to Minirnise Soil Erosion & Conservation Plan for Maintenance & Eco-Restoration of the Area Limestone Project Area (Schemes costing Rs. 85,54,390/-, approved by the CF, Bilaspur)' has been submitted to the MoEF & CC, New Delhi through the Nodal Officer, Shirnla in connection with Final FC. Copy of the scheme submitted by hand to the Regional Office, MoEF & CC,Dehradun on Pg.2/11 '.

3 particularly after the monsoon and maintained properly. Garland drains, settling tanks and check dams of appropriate size, gradient and length shall be constructed both around the mine pit and over burden dump(s) to prevent run off of water and flow of sediments directly into the private land, the Arki ki Khad, a perennial nallah and other water bodies and sump capacity should be designed keeping 50% safety margin over and above peak sudden rainfall (based on 50 years data) and maximum discharge in the area adjoining the mine site. Sump capacity should also provide adequate retention period to allow proper settling of silt material. Sedimentation pits should be constructed at the comers of the garland drains and de-silted at regular intervals. Dimension of the retaining wall at the toe of the OB dump(s) and the 9 OB benches within the mine to check run-off and siltation should be based on the rain fall data. Plantation shall be raised in an area of 53.3 Ha including a 7.5m wide green belt in the safety zone around the mining lease, OB dump(s), along the roads etc. by planting the native species in consultation with the local 10 DFO/Agriculture Department. The density of the trees should be around 2000 plants per Ha. Greenbelt shall be developed all along the mine lease area in a phased manner and shall be completed within first five years. Effective safeguard measures, such as regular water sprinkling shall be carried out in critical areas prone to air pollution and having high levels 11 of particulate matter such as around crushing and screening plant, loading and unloading point and an transfer points. Extensive water sprinkling shall be carried out on NMDC Arki Limestone Project: Be SMR for Apr 2016 to Sept 2016 'An Action Plan for Conservation of Flora and Fauna' for Arki Limestone Project {Schemes costing Rs Crores) has been already prepared and approved by State Forest and Wildlife Department in March Copy of the scheme submitted by hand to the Regional Office, MoEF & CC, Dehradun on Air pollution measures have been considered in the EIAIEMP studies.
