SITE DESCRIPTION 2.1. Location Bangket Lendang is one of the potential site for a Micro Hydropower (MHP) implementation. Bangket Lendang is part of Teras Genit subvillage, bayan village, Bayan district, Lombok Barat regency, Nusa Tenggara Barat province. It is located geographically at S 08 18'21.8 and 0 0 E116 25'1.6. Bayan village north border is Awjar village, a conservated forest at the southern side, Senarul village at the western side and Loloan village at the eastern side. or motorcycle in about 2.25 hours or by a public transportation (buses, motorbikes) from Mataram, which services route among Mataram Bayan Teras Genit Topographic and Geological Condition The MHP scheme will uses water from Lokok Emuk river. The river located on the west of Teras Genit subvillage. From the MHP scheme location (power house) the river goes to the north direction. Table 1. Accessibility Bangket Lendang located about 76.5 km to the northeast of Mataram city, Lombok Barat regency, Nusa Tenggara Barat Province. The location could be reach by four wheel vehicle such Kijang Topographic conditions along the river are moderate slope, while the materials around the river are loose soil, rocks, and gravelly. Detail topographic map could be seen in Annex 3.

3 Inventory Study on Development Potential For Rural electrification in INDONESIA 2 S I T E R E P O R T 3. SOCIO ECONOMIC CONDITION Village settlement around the MHP scheme (Teras Genit) are quite concentrated. There is no adequate distance between every small group from one to another. Almost the villagers are farmers. Their main crops are paddy, and others. They still cultivate their land in traditional way, without any modern agriculture knowhow. According to the agricultural potential in the area, Teras Genit are quite prospective to develop further. There are existing public facilities such as elementary school, junior high school, and mosque. There are also community organizations such as LKMD, and P3A. Table 2. SubVillages which will electrified by The MHP Scheme SubVillage Village Number of Latitude Line Longitude Line Household Teras Genit 53 S 08 17'50.4 Jeruk Manis 100 Dasan Tutul 72 Bual 50 Total E ' POTENTIAL ENERGY SOURCES AND ELECTRIFICATION CONDITION The villages around the MHP scheme has not been electrified and will not get electricity from PLN grid, at least in the recent PLN Plan. The nearest PLN grid is about 5 km. Existing main energy sources for villagers there are kerosene, and oil for lighting. Teras Genit subvillages have ever been used a simple micro hydro power plant, but unfortunately, the recent condition is damaged. Since then, most villagers are back to kerosene, and oil in fulfilling their lighting needs. The village around MHP scheme location economically have many potential, especially in agriculture, and horticulture, sectors. However, related production facilities are still insufficient, there are some possibilities such as: storage facility, and rice mill. MHP development is expected giving valuable support to increase community economics quality apart from lighting need. As shown at Table 2, the number of households which will electrified by MHP scheme at Teras Genit and the surrounding area are 6275 households. Based on empiric data of electrification project using MHP, the estimate electricity need or electrical power need Figure 1 The existing headrace (channel) facility at Teras Genit subvillage, Bayan Lombok Barat. assumption is about 75 watt per house. Including the electricity need for several public facilities, then total MHP Capacity expected for those areas is about kw.

HYDROPOWER POTENTIAL According to topographic measurement, water from Lokok Emuk River will used the existing irrigation channel as a headrace of the MHP scheme (see detailed site plan at Annex 4). For this MHP scheme, measured gross head is about 22.5 m and estimated penstock length is about 52 m. Detail penstock profile is shown at Annex 5. Estimated minimum power electricity need in Te ras Genit subvillage and the surrounding area is about kw. To fulfil this require ment, the MHP discharge have to be about 200 l/s with the estimate net head 21 m, with this calculation the MHP scheme could generate electricity power about 21.4 kw and still have reserved power about 0.05 kw (see detail calculation at Table 4.). Actual discharge measured of Lokok Emuk River is 6250 liter/second. Recorded discharge data or annual discharge are not available and discharge measurement done not in the driest month, therefore maximum discharge in the dry season estimated about 200 l/s. However, design discharge has to be determined in detail and more accurate, considering all factor, and catchment area when a further feasibility study for this MHP done. 6. TRANSMISSION LINE Figure 2 The existing spillway facility at Teras Genit subvillage; Distributes the overflow back to the stream (Lokok Emuk river). The village settlement surrounding the MHP scheme are quiet concentrated and in small groups which have no significant distance from each other. Main transmission line to those subvillages, as shown in Table 2, is about 2.9 km length. The transmission line design of Bangket Lendang area is shown in Annex 6.
