Fresher fruit for longer When storing and moving food around the world, few items are as demanding as fresh fruit. Modern consumers expect fruits to be available all year round, regardless of the harvest date. Kiwi fruit is all harvested in October, mostly in southern Europe. To keep kiwi fruit fresh, it has to be stored at a precise temperature and a precise humidity, otherwise it will rot in days. These may be cultural, technological or climate-driven, but we always enjoy the challenge of finding solutions. For the Beijing Olympics, we responded to the environmental challenge by introducing CO 2 heat exchangers into soft drink vending machines. As well as being less harmful than traditional refrigerants, CO 2 has a higher heat-transfer coefficient, which increases efficiency. As a result, equipment has the potential to be smaller, lighter, more efficient and better for the environment. We have also successfully developed aluminium micro-channel coils. These all-aluminium heat exchangers are in certain applications more efficient and use less refrigerant than conventional solutions. Being lighter than copper / aluminium heat exchangers they can also be significantly better value for money

4 Air units, brine coolers, air-cooled condensers and dry coolers Versatility The variety of air units that we produce is remarkable. On any given day we could be shipping out simple refrigeration units for a supermarket, highly calibrated units for mobile applications or even anti-seismic industrial coolers. We have the production capacity to meet large orders (or just one), and our industrial coolers are often on an enormous scale. Some of the largest units we produce are used in power generation, paper mills, nuclear power plants or oil rigs. Understanding the market To provide the right solutions, we need a thorough knowledge of the end markets our coolers are destined for. One customer may need a warehouse cooler which streams air down the corridors and not towards the goods being stored. A customer storing flowers needs coolers with high humidity but also very low air circulation, so the breeze doesn t make the petals fall. Fast food manufacturers need a cooler which can blast-freeze pizzas straight from the oven, in under an hour. We make it our business to understand our customers businesses in detail.
