2 1. GSPC to buy natural gas from Gazprom Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) on 11 January 2011 signed an agreement with Gazprom Marketing and Trading (GM & T) Singapore Pte. GSPC has signed the pact to procure 0.3 million tonne of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) over a two-year period. Under the agreement, OAO Gazprom, a unit of GM & T, will sell LNG to GSPC, beginning from second half of L&T MHI JV completes facilities at Hazira A JV of L&T and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries completed facilities for the manufacture of supercritical boilers and turbine generators at Hazira, Surat (Gujarat). Vilasrao Deshmukh, Union Minister of Heavy Industry & Public Enterprises, on 11 January 2011 inaugurated the supercritical boiler facility while Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat, inaugurated the facility for supercritical turbine generators. The L&T-MHI facilities have an annual capacity of manufacturing 5,000 MW of equipment, to be expanded to 6,000 MW by Vandana Vidhyut plans power plant Vandana Vidhyut proposes to set up a 65 MW coal based power unit in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh, ProjectsToday has learnt. 3 Land acquisition for the power plant is currently underway. Work on the project is expected to commence by June Meanwhile, the company also plans to set up a 270 MW coal based power unit at Salora village in Korba district. 4. Punj Lloyd Delta bags contract Punj Lloyd Delta Renewables, a Punj Lloyd Group company, won an EPC contract for a centralised water treatment plant at Kharagpur, Munger district in Bihar. The project, awarded on a turnkey basis by the Public Health Engineering Department of the Bihar Government, is to have a capacity of supplying MLD of drinking water to the fluoride affected village of Khaira and its adjoining areas The scope of work includes engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning of a centralised water treatment plant along with piping network in multiple villages to supply treated water. The project is likely to be completed over a period of 24 months. 5. Power projects in Chennai to complete by end 2011 Two coal based power projects coming up in Chennai are likely to be commissioned by end Both projects - 1,200 MW (2x600 MW) North Chennai Thermal Power Station (NCTPS) expansion and 1,000 MW (2x500 MW) Vallur power project - are being executed on nearby plots in Ponneri taluk of Tiruvallur district. 4 Of the two units of 500 MW each in Vallur, one unit is expected to be completed by October and another by December The two units of NCTPS will start generation by January While the Tamil Nadu Government will get about 70 per cent of power generated at Vallur, it will get full share from the NCTPS expansion project. NTPC-Tamil Nadu Energy Company is executing both projects. 6. NTPC invites bids for power cables package NTPC on behalf of Nabinagar Power Generating Company has invited bids for power cables package in Bihar. The bids have been invited for 1.1 kv power cables package for Nabinagar super thermal power project (3x660 MW) at Nabinagar in Aurangabad district of Bihar. Last date for submission of bids is 1 March NTPC invites bids for Meja power project NTPC on behalf of Meja Urja Nigam has invited bids for related works at a power project in Uttar Pradesh. The bids have been invited for HT power cables package for Meja thermal power project (2x660 MW) at Meja in Allahabad district in the state. Page 4

5 Last date for submission of bids is 23 February R Power in pact with NTPC arm Reliance Power (R-Power) is learnt to have signed the PPA with NTPC. The said PPA has been signed with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVNL) for R-Power's upcoming 100 MW solar power project at Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. The project is to be implemented by Rajasthan Sun Technique Energy (RSTEPL), a subsidiary of Reliance Power. It is slated to be commissioned by May In December 2010, RSTEPL was awarded a LoI by NVVNL for purchase of 100 MW of solar power under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission. The sale of power was to be from the solar power project being set up by the company in Rajasthan. 9. BHEL lowest bidder for RRVUNL projects BHEL has reportedly emerged as the lowest bidder for Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam's (RRVUNL) projects. According to sources, the two supercritical thermal power projects, being set up at Chhabra and Suratgarh in Rajasthan, are of 1,320 MW each and RRVUNL had floated a tender for providing EPC services.
