Morpholine may be absorbed through intact skin causing liver, kidney, CNS depression and blood system damage. Eye Contact Causes severe irritation to the mucous membranes of the eyes. May cause ulceration of the eye. Ingestion..... Burning in mouth and esophagus; nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea, edema (swelling) of larynx and subsequent suffocation. Perforation of gastrointestinal tract can occur. May cause liver, kidney, central nervous system depression and blood system damage. Exposure Limits... ACGIH/TLV: 10 ppm (Cyclohexylamine) PEL-TWA: 10 ppm (Cyclohexylamine) TLV-TWA: 10 ppm (Cyclohexylamine) ACGIH/TLV (skin): 20 ppm (Morpholine) TLV-TWA (skin): 20 ppm (Morpholine) PEL-TWA (skin): 20 ppm (Morpholine) PEL-STEL (skin): 20 ppm (Morpholine) Section 04 - First Aid Measures Inhalation Remove victim to fresh air. Give artificial respiration only if breathing has stopped. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Seek medical attention if difficulties persist. Skin Contact / Absorption... Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected area with soap and water. Seek medical attention if irritation occurs or persists. Eye Contact Flush immediately with water for at least 20 minutes. Forcibly hold eyelids apart to ensure complete irrigation of eye tissue. Seek medical attention if symptoms persist. Ingestion..... Do not induce vomiting. 3 Page 3 of 7 Conditions of Flammability... Flammable liquid Section 05 - Fire Fighting Means of Extinction Carbon dioxide and dry chemical extinguishers. Use water spray to disperse vapours. Flash Point o C Auto-ignition Temperature.. Upper Flammable Limit... Lower Flammable Limit Hazardous Combustible Products... Nitrogen oxides Special Fire Fighting Procedures... Wear NIOSH-approved self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing. Explosion Hazards... Vapours are heavier than air and may "travel" to source of ignition causing fire and explosion. Section 06 - Accidental Release Measures Leak / Spill Wear appropriate personal protective equipment if required. Ventilate area. Stop or reduce leak if safe to do so. Prevent material from entering sewers or water ways. Flush with water to remove any residue. Neutralize minor spills with dilute acid before washing away with plenty of water. Deactivating Materials Neutralize with dilute acid. Section 07 - Handling and Storage Handling Procedures Use proper equipment for lifting and transporting all containers. Use sensible industrial hygiene and housekeeping practices. Wash thoroughly after handling. Avoid all situations that could lead to harmful exposure. Storage Requirements Store in cool area above freezing point away from incompatible materials.
