1 F i s c a l Y e a r 2 6 Environmental Health and Safety Highlights Medtronic is committed to doing business in an environmentally responsible manner and will strive to improve its performance to benefit its employees, customers, communities, shareholders, and the environment. All employees are responsible for making sure that Medtronic s business is conducted in compliance with all applicable laws and in a way that is protective of the environment. Medtronic Code of Conduct on Environmental Management M a n a g i n g Wa s t e For fiscal year 26, Medtronic surpassed its goal of reducing the generation rate (pounds per $million revenue) of non-regulated waste by achieving a better than 5 percent decrease from the previous fiscal year. 2 n o n - R e g u l at e d wa s t e Non-Regulated Waste (lbs in millions) 1,6 1,4 Specific to regulated waste, the amount generated in fiscal year 26 was approximately 2 million pounds. This category captures waste that is generated by manufacturing facilities, such as scrap metal and solvents used during manufacturing. Medtronic ,2 1, 8 6 continually focuses on reducing the amount of waste 5 4 by looking for more efficient manufacturing processes 2 and finding alternatives for recycling materials. FY4 FY5 FY6 Wa s t e r e d u c t i o n i n T e m p e, a r i z o n a The Medtronic facility in Tempe, Arizona, reduced the R E G U L AT E D wa s t e amount of regulated waste by 2 percent last fiscal year Regulated Waste (lbs in millions) as part of an aggressive waste minimization program. The project involved taking spent photoresist and using it as feed stock in a solvent process. This is especially 2 16 significant since the amount of regulated waste reduced in the previous fiscal year was 35 percent, which resulted in cutting the amount of regulated waste by almost half in two years. In addition, they accomplished a 28 percent reduction in air emissions from their wafer fabrication and ceramic operations by installing a more.5 4 efficient solvent emission control system, which also uses less natural gas. 2 E n c o u r ag i n g R e c y c l i n g Recycling is a key component of the company s R e c y c l i n g commitment to reducing waste. Programs are in place Recycling (lbs in millions) to encourage recycling within plants and at individual 1 9 workspaces. These programs encourage recycling of 8 plastics, metals, beverage containers, fiber (printing paper, newspaper, cardboard, etc.), ink cartridges and batteries. In fiscal year 26, Medtronic recycled nearly 7.5 million pounds of material. When adjusted for business growth, this represents an increase of 1 percent from fiscal year 25, or double the annual goal to increase recycling by five percent. FY4 FY5 FY6 R e c y c l i n g i n G a lway, I r e l a n d Medtronic s Galway, Ireland facility helps the company exceed its recycling goal by steadily increasing the amount of materials recycled. In fact, the employees have nearly doubled their recycling over the last several years, and they are now recycling nearly half of the total non-regulated waste generated. In addition, through a variety of energy conservation projects, they have decreased the amount of climate change emissions by more than 2 percent. They credit their success to management support for the environment, teamwork and their ISO 141 certified Environmental Management System.

3 M i n i m i z i n g G r e e n h o u s e G a s Greenhouse gases, measured as carbon dioxide (CO2) produced from energy consumption (natural gas, fuel G r e e n h o u s e G a s e m i s s i o n s a n d e n e r g y u s e oil and electricity), contribute to global warming. Given Greenhouse Gas Emissions (tons) that Medtronic s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions Tons/$M Revenue are mainly from indirect energy use (the primary 35, 3 contributor is CO2 emissions), it is estimated that approximately 3, tons of GHG emissions were 3, 25 emitted from indirect energy use. The company is focused on energy conservation technologies to reduce emissions, and many of these technologies are already in place at Medtronic facilities, including energy efficient lighting, ventilation systems and the use of automated building controls. All facilities are also responsible for coordinating installation of energy Tons 25, 2, 15, 1, 5, Tons/$M Revenue efficient equipment in new construction. FY4 FY5 FY6 In line with its commitment to responsible environmental practices, Medtronic intends to continue to seek ways to conserve energy and reduce GHG emissions.

4 C o n s e r v i n g Wat e r Water is an important resource for Medtronic s Wat e r U s a g e manufacturing facilities, both for human use and Water Use (gallons in millions) in production of life-saving and sustaining medical products. 35 Gallons/$M Revenue 35, 3 3, Medtronic used approximately 29, gallons of water per million dollars of revenue in fiscal year 26. Comparing fiscal year 26 to fiscal year 25, Medtronic s rate of water consumption decreased over 1 percent, resulting in an actual decrease of 1.5 million gallons of water use. Gallons in Millions , 2, 15, 1, Gallons/$M Revenue 5 5, FY4 FY5 FY6 A C o m m i t m e n t t o t h e E n v i r o n m e n t O u t s i d e t h e C o m pa n y Medtronic also maintains its commitment to environmental responsibility outside of company walls. Medtronic is a member of the Minnesota Environmental Initiative s Clean Air Program, which strives to reduce air pollution, and also participates in key environmental projects such as the Carbon Disclosure Project.

5 F o c u s i n g o n H e a lt h a n d S a f e t y Medtronic is committed to a safe, healthy work environment that is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. All employees are expected to develop a pro-active, cooperative attitude toward issues of health and safety throughout the Company. Medtronic Code of Conduct on Health and Safety E m p l o y e e i n j u r y r at e Medtronic tracks data on the percentage of employees who sustain work-related injuries or illnesses serious enough to require more than first-aid treatment. These data are analyzed to measure the frequency of injury and/or illness. The result that we track over time to measure performance in health and safety is the incident rate. In fiscal year 26, the incident rate was 1.65, which has been consistently decreasing over the past four years, from a rate of 2.1 in fiscal year 25 and 2.37 in fiscal year E m p l o y e e I n j u r y a n d L o s t W o r k da y c a s e r at e Incident Rate Lost Workday Case Rate E m p l o y e e l o s t w o r k da y c a s e r at e Another measure related to health and safety is employee lost workday case rate (LWCR), which measures the severity of the illness or injury. In this case, the key measure is the number of work-related injuries or illnesses serious enough to cause an employee to miss one or more work days or to have one or more work days of restricted duty. In fiscal year 26 the LWCR was.78, compared to.98 in fiscal year 25 and.94 in fiscal year 24.. FY4 FY5 FY6 UC EN
