Specialists in Thermal Energy Storage Solutions Andy Trewin Sunamp Ltd.

Introduction to Sunamp Sunamp develops, designs and manufacture heat batteries in the UK The most advanced Heat Battery energy storage company in the world Sunamp are an award winning product in innovation and technology Winner: Solar Power Portal Awards 2016 Finalist: SHIFT Awards 2016 Finalist Ashden Awards 2017 Winner: Regen Renewable Futures & Green Energy Awards 2017

490 What is Sunamp? Ground Breaking Technology PCM Innovation Storage efficiency (x4) Sustainable 80+ years and still testing Benefits Non toxic PCM saline solution No Permissions requirement for connection or effect on export DNO, RO-Fit, Ofgem. Environmentally friendly No static water residue Zero Degradation Dual Function Modular 2.5 kwh 30 kw PCM 58 C 150 Wh/L 5-80 C

Why Thermal Storage? Focus is on electrical batteries but electricity is just 19% of the energy we use, whereas 81% of energy is used for space heating and hot water. 19% 81%

What is a Sunamp Heat Battery? A super-compact battery stores energy as heat and releases it on demand. Life-cycle tested to over 80 years contains non-toxic, sustainable and recyclable materials. Sunamp heat batteries installed in over 1,000 properties, replacing the need for hot water tanks and immersion heaters and delivering energy savings of up to 38%.

Range of Storage Temperatures

Heat from a variety of sources Heat Batteries can be charged using any energy source. Solar PV or Thermal, Heat Pumps, process heat, waste heat, biomass or CHP etc. Charging with heat pumps from off-peak is super efficient and gets RHI payments to help with capex. Heat can be released instantly when needed, delivering hot water and space heating during peak times for <½ the price of grid gas using a heat pump!

Domestic Heat Storage Providing Free Hot Water to over 1000 homes with Solar PV and Heat batteries to-date Domestic Hot Water Sunamp PV Heat Battery Unit Solar PV Array Combi boiler Self Consumption Device

London Passive House Heat load 800 watts per day in an all electric house. No Solar PV or Heat Pump. 3 x Sunamps in the basement 1 x Sunamps in the kitchen Heating and hot water, could have been achieved with 3 units, extended to four to ensure he always has plenty of heating and hot water

Generation to Storage

Compact, scalable, long lasting. Phase Change Materials, store four times more energy than hot water tanks in a unit the size of a combi boiler. Modular design tailored to specific requirements. Additional storage can easily be added in the future if required. Amazing longevity >36,000 cycles to date with zero degradation! Design life 20+ years with Warranty of 10 years

Domestic Installation Gallery A SunampPV fits easily under your sink or tucks away in a corner Works with gas combi boilers Works in electric heat/hot water properties too 2 fit side by side in a cupboard for larger PV arrays / more occupants

Energy Recovery & ROI SOLAR WIND HEATPUMP AD CHP BIOMASS GRID Energy All can be stored as heat with Sunamp Heat Battery

Lithium vs PCM Sunamp is 40% - 50% Cheaper at scale to Li-ion and will out live the Li-ion by 5 times!

Commercial & Industrial Product

Commercial Retrofit Village Hall 12kWp Solar PV Array was already installed Retrofitted 2 Daikin Heat Pumps & 1 Stack Removed gas boiler Replaced the old inefficient radiators The committee have been monitoring their savings and estimate they will save over 3000 PA which is over 50% of their fuel costs The Project ROI Payback in 10 years Have not switched to off peak tariff, which could increase savings Other benefits: Very easy to control & sets back automatically Heat 2000 Sq Ft room very quickly We replaced old radiators with no redecoration required Better water pressure
