Recruitment Salary Range $45,000 to $55,000 per annum, dependent on experience Position Overview Primary Function of Position To provide a high quality support and coordination service for Council s communications and marketing activities that builds and maintains our reputation in the community. This includes supporting event planning and coordination, social media management, interacting with our local business community and other community groups, and general administration support. Responsibilities To provide an agile and responsive coordination service for communications and marketing activities, including supporting event organisation. To monitor and review social media interactions and actively manage Council s participation in these interactions. To build and maintain strong relationships in our local business, and broader community, that enhances Council s reputation, and supports our community outcomes. To provide high quality administrative support, including managing small to medium communications and marketing projects.

Social media interactions, including website management Supporting the planning, organising and coordination of events for marketing initiatives that promote Council s reputation. Events run smoothly with positive feedback from internal teams, customers and the community. Customers and stakeholders are provided with accurate information, and contacted within agreed timeframes. Liaison with service providers and suppliers achieves value for Council and ensures work is delivered on time and within budget. Service and processes are continually monitored to identify improvement opportunities that enhance Council s reputation. Active day-to-day management of social media platforms reflects Council s community outcomes, and enhances its reputation in the community. Social media platforms are monitored and reviewed on a real-time basis. New opportunities for social media interaction are researched, and appropriate recommendations made to enhance Council s

3 Relationship and stakeholder management digital interactions. Council s website contains up-to-date and accurate information, and aligns to Council s strategic communications goals. Own knowledge is kept up to date to ensure information and support provided is relevant, and reflects current best practice. Strong relationships are built and maintained with identified stakeholders that enhance Council s reputation. Effective liaison and coordination with identified stakeholders delivers positive outcomes for Council, the local business community, and other community groups. Networks are developed and effectively managed to leverage opportunities that promote the Masterton district and Wairarapa region. Communications with identified stakeholders occur within agreed timeframes and provide an exceptional customer service experience. Administration support Accurate and timely administrative support and advice is provided in relation to communications and marketing activities. Own workloads are managed effectively to ensure timeframes are achieved and quality support is provided. Systems are mastered so that information can be inputted, processed and retrieved accurately. Project management principles are applied so that quality work is delivered, for example, updating project timetables, monitoring and adjusting workloads, liaising with team members. Health, Safety and Risk Ensures own and others safety at all times. Complies with policies, procedures and safe systems of work. Reports all incidents/accidents, including near misses, in a timely fashion. Actively participates in the hazard management and identification process. Escalates risk as per the Risk Management Policy. Other Duties Participate in, and lead, projects as required by the Senior Communications & Marketing Advisor.

4 Any other relevant tasks may be undertaken as required by the Senior Communications & Marketing Advisor. To act within legal boundaries and the Masterton District Council policies Ensure that all records are maintained accurately and in accordance with legislation and Masterton District Council policy. Provide appropriate information in accordance with the Privacy Act, other relevant legislation and Masterton District Council policy. Person Specification Education and Qualifications Marketing, digital marketing or communications qualification and / or experience. Local Wairarapa knowledge, and of the services provided by Council is an advantage. Technologically savvy, particularly social media and website management and applications. Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint. Experience in Wordpress, Hootsuite, MailChimp and Canva would be an advantage. Key Job Competencies Be an excellent communicator with strong oral, written and presentation skills. Be agile and not be phased by changing priorities and workloads. Have a flair for the preparation of quality documents. Be comfortable engaging and dealing with a broad range of people and community groups, including local businesses. Be comfortable working on your own initiative and finding solutions to logistical problems. Be highly organised with the ability to work on multiple projects at any one time, prioritising and planning effectively to ensure timely delivery of outcomes.

5 Performance Development Review An initial review of performance will be conducted after three months, with a performance development planning session annually thereafter. This is in the context of regular discussions and a no surprises annual review.
