1 Junior UI / Graphic Designer Job Description Draw US / New York & Boston Date: August 2018 Prepared by: Rob Robinson Draw - Building 3, The Leathermarket, Weston Street, London SE1 3ER

2 Background You may not have heard of Draw. We don t currently have a presence in America. However, all of that is about to change and you could be at the heart of this exciting new venture. Draw has recently been acquired by management consultants Oliver Wyman (who also own brand agency Lippincott) and we are looking to set up new teams in New York and Boston. New hires will have the chance to work on a diverse range of work from existing Draw clients and partnerships with our colleagues at Oliver Wyman and Lippincott. About Draw Draw is an award-winning, Top 100 digital agency within the Labs division of management consulting firm Oliver Wyman. 3 The work we do We use design thinking to help our clients transform their businesses through the strategic application of data, insight, creativity, technology, people and process. We innovate through digital strategy, stakeholder engagement, user research and data science. We engineer through website and app development, business tools and dashboards, brand development, rapid prototyping and campaigns. We influence through CRM, content strategy and creation, social marketing and SEO. In the last year, we have seen a shift from creative projects that support our clients brands, to strategic projects that support our clients businesses. This has been mostly evidenced through the delivery of service design projects, and has been accelerated through our relationship with Oliver Wyman. We are excited to grow our capability in this area, and to extend our opportunity to deliver it in other locations. Our values We re serious about ensuring that Draw is both an enjoyable and rewarding place to work. Here are some of the things that are important to us: Make things better - This is the overarching value of the agency. Everything we do should revolve around constantly improving everything we touch: our work, our client relationships and the lives of our team. If we re doing something that isn t improving one (or all three) of those things, then it s probably not right for us. Time is precious - All we have is time. Both personally and professionally, it s our most valuable resource. This is why we charge our clients appropriately and respect the time we give to and ask of each other. Help this person - Agency life is all about people and we can improve any situation by better understanding those people and actively helping them. All of us know more than any of us - Our strength is in our collective knowledge, skills and experience. It s what our clients pay for and therefore everyone s input is valuable and should be respected. Treat people well - It seems obvious, but to us, it s important enough to write down. About this document At Draw we trust one another to do the best we can for our clients, the company, each other and ourselves. But we need to make sure that each of us has a clear understanding of our role, and the responsibilities we have so that we can set and achieve personal, professional and company goals. That is the purpose of this document. Some things, of course, are easier to measure than others - and culture, friendships and fun are just as important as deadlines, deliverables and finance. But if we get the things you can measure right, and make Draw - Building 3, The Leathermarket, Weston Street, London SE1 3ER Page 3 of 10

4 progress on our individual objectives, we will have more time to do the things we enjoy, and more money to do them with. The role Draw has begun its operations in the USA and has started to grow teams in both New York and Boston. It is envisaged that over time New York will represent ⅔ of the team and Boston ⅓ team by headcount. You will be joining a small team, working alongside a UX designer to deliver rapid, digital solutions to business challenges. A lot of this work is UX and UI design work. We already have a UX designer in both New York and Boston - therefore we need UI designers with strong portfolios that demonstrate either their previous experience or potential to grow quickly into the kind of designer that thrives at draw. Your background We need a first-rate Graphic / UI designer who is comfortable working in a team of smart minds alongside driven and ambitious clients. We are less impressed by long CVs - more impressed by a hunger to design and a portfolio that demonstrates a real talent and eye for layout. You will be working on creating beautiful digital products and services and campaigns. Progression There are no limits on the size of operation Draw has in the US, so long as growth is sustainable and profitable, your career can grow alongside this venture. Ability & willingness to travel While your day-to-day office will be in Boston a lot of our clients are based all over the US. Therefore, there will be times when you will be required to travel to client meetings and also times when you will be required to work on client sites for extended periods of time. Requirements Below we set out the key requirements for the role, together with examples of skills and experience we think will be useful to deliver them. First and foremost - fantastic design skills! You will be the agency design representative to think through complex client challenges and create well thought through solutions based on any technical limitations of the project. You will be working alongside experts from the various agency disciplines on the solution to develop the UI approach to whatever project you are working on. 5 Clients can sometimes be their own worst enemy, so it s up to you to help keep the momentum up and be a strong and an enabling force when there are obstacles on the track. We re not expecting miracles here - we know that there are things out of our control - but we re looking for someone who s not going to give up at the first hurdle. Quickly understand the project you are working on You don t have to be an expert in banking, re-insurance, law firms or supermarkets to build a product - but, to make a difference, you do need to be able to quickly pick up the fundamentals and the nuance of a business and its challenges. We want people who are curious about how and why things work (or don t) - no matter what the sector - so that they can apply their learning wherever it s valuable. 6 Skills and qualities Leadership - Whether it s through integrity, inspiration, gravitas or charisma (or a combination of all of them), both the Draw team and clients will look to you for an example of how to act - especially in challenging situations. Both sides will want you to represent their best interests, and striking the right balance is key. Taking initiatives - The digital industry is far from mature and advances at a considerable pace. So we must continually reinvent ourselves in order to maintain relevance to our customers - to do that Draw wants to benefit from your ideas and initiatives, to make the company perform better. Autonomy While we offer a supportive and nurturing environment we are also composed of people who aren t afraid of autonomy. You will often act for the firm and take decisions on its behalf - and we encourage you to do so. Customer satisfaction - Our ultimate benchmark. Gravitas - You will be working with senior clients so you need to earn their trust and respect while reflecting the values of the agency. No Ego - While design is at the forefront of the agency s solution delivery, getting the job done is a team effort and we all work together to bring out the best in each other. Approachability - You need to be open and approachable so that members of the team feel they can come to you for advice and ideas. A radiator, not a drain - You need to transmit enthusiasm, confidence and energy to the team and clients. It will buoy the team on a grey day, and ensure our clients never forget our enthusiasm for helping drive their success. People who thrive at draw are typically reliable self-starters who are both creatively talented and technically skilled. They are communicative, personable, switched on and pragmatic enough to be able to work with incomplete data in fast-moving situations. The very best can demonstrate that they understand complexity by presenting that information back in straightforward terms. Sense of humour - Yes, please.
