3 Job description Main purpose of the job To support the provision of a varied programme of events that delivers both the required commercial return and appeals to the SU s diverse membership To operationally manage events for the Students Union and deliver a programme of events across our campuses Main duties and responsibilities Specific duties: To lead, market and manage the SU entertainment programme, ensuring that the student body receives a high quality and diverse programme To assist in the planning of and be responsible for budgeting for the major SU events such as Freshers, Varsity, Awards Ceremonies etc To develop and deliver a varied annual programme of events across all UoG campuses including but not limited to live music, spoken word, poetry, club nights To work in partnership with the University accommodation team to ensure students in halls are provided with a range of engaging events To be a member of the University residential life committee alongside elected officers and University staff To ensure that events are effectively advertised, working in partnership with the SU and University marketing teams To actively seek out new opportunities for internal and external bookings and to be the main point of contact for booking enquiries To work in partnership with Gloucester Culture Trust to develop events in Gloucester city and at Oxstalls; including the new sports arena To be responsible for maintaining equipment to high standards, and to implement a long-term care programme for it To work with the SU xecutive to gain feedback and opinions from students about the entertainments programme To ensure that risk assessments are carried out for all events To support the SU President to organise a regular open entertainments committee meetings To keep a record of entertainments provided in order to provide an accurate report back to PPL and PRS licensing To work in partnership with Baxter Storey to run events utilising on-campus bars and refectories To undertake any other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade of the post, properly directed by the line manager. These variations will not change the general character of the post or the level of responsibility entailed. This job description is a guide to the work the post holder will be required to undertake.
