Many project teams promise to mitigate risk through collaboration. Collaboration does not come naturally and easily in the design and construction industry. Join us for a facilitated workshop designed to provide you the tools to create a collaborative project culture by applying a Team Development process. Team Development is a clear, specific and valuable methodology for structuring a true project team. This session illustrates the process needed to implement a common purpose and collective performance measures. It will show how to drive communication, collaboration, accountability and pride into every level of the project team. Session I: Gain Commitment We commit to a goal when we are able to identify how we can contribute. Effective action plans include key strategies and initiatives that illustrate how goals will be achieved. In addition, plans need

2 to identify who is responsible for each strategy and initiative. Every new team member, including each contractor, needs orientation to understand the Project Plan and their individual role in it. Together we will develop communication strategies and an orientation process that will generate commitment to the Project Plan. 2:15 2:30 pm Break 2:30 3:30 pm SESSION 3 DISCOVERING PROJECT COLLABORATION BEST PRACTICES PART II Pam Neckar, Chief Financial Officer, Bostwick Design Partnership Session II: Remain Focused As Owners, your role is to motivate the team to perform in alignment with the Project Plan. Identifying meaningful ways to recognize performance is not easy, but it s critical to your success. Team Development sessions during construction are designed to allow the team to step back and focus on teamwork and gauge progress toward goal achievement; it s the time to measure and motivate. Together we will create meeting agendas to maintain team alignment. 3:30 3:45 pm Break 3:45 4:45 pm SESSION 4 TRUST BUT VERIFY ACHIEVING COST ACCOUNTABILITY AS A COMPONENT OF COLLABORATIVE DELIVERY Gwen Glattes, Director FRES Construction Audit, University of Pennsylvania; Kristopher Thorne, Sr. Vice President, Limbach Company LLC An open book environment is frequently a component of collaborative delivery.
