1 Position Summary Position Title: Position Category: Area of Operation: Reporting To: Governing Councils: Direct Reports General Description: Key Results / Job Outcomes Training Officer Volunteer Member Training Fulltime / Permanent Volunteer Training Manager - Volunteer Member Training Lifesaving Operations Council NA To support, develop and maintain Life Saving Victoria s (LSV) organisational Training standards and policies within Lifesaving Clubs across Victoria, through the provision of training delivery, supervision and mentoring The role will foster a collaborative relationship between Clubs, Area Training and Assessment Officers, State Officers and Training and Assessment Executive, whilst adhering to pre-determined principles for Volunteer Training The role will identify and support Training and Assessment development opportunities within Life Saving clubs, ensuring capability in the facilitating of courses, programs and workshops, as required. Improved training delivery, particularly for technical programs Improved club capacity and independence in the delivery of training to Volunteer members Increased volunteer training support and assistance to Clubs Increase in the number of qualified members, through the support and monitoring of new awards and skills maintenance processes Issued By: GM-LSCD 1 of 5 Issue Date: June-18

2 Under guidance from the Manager and Coordinator, work towards achieving the predetermined business and operational objectives for Training, as set by LSV in supporting Life Saving Clubs. Ensure that LSV and SLSA information technology systems and communication networks are effectively and efficiently used by Clubs during operational and training purposes Support and assist Club Presidents, Committees, Area Training and Assessment Officers, State Officers, Training and Assessment Executive and office bearers with information and resources within the limits of the RTO standards Club Support Relationship Management Support internal review processes highlighting potential Training improvements Work collaboratively with relevant Club Committee representatives and key stakeholders to deliver a high level of support in line with club training needs Identify, troubleshoot and monitor key issues, capability constraints and areas of improvement Proactively support and manage the development, progression, data management and content of club award resources Proactively assist clubs to understand and develop procedures to ensure regulatory requirements and business objectives are adhered too. Build and foster relationships with Clubs through both traditional and nontraditional communication channels, including but not limited to face to face, , social media, forums and newsletters Participate in a needs analysis to determine the requirements of training protocols and support for Clubs Foster key Stakeholder relationships in each club across the state In conjunction with State Officers, liaise with Club Training and Assessment representatives to identify issues and support timely resolutions Proactively advise clubs of relevant changes to policies, procedures, regulations and technologies Liaise with Area Training and Assessment Officers regarding Compliance and Resources Participate effectively in the greater Lifesaving community, networking with Clubs and key stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives Issued By: GM-LSCD 2 of 5 Issue Date: June-18

3 Program/Service Delivery Quality and Compliance Management Meetings Reporting & Financial Support new and existing initiatives for LSV and promote the objectives and aims to the broader community through Club relationships. Provide volunteers and clubs with high quality customer service. Support Training and Assessment development opportunities within clubs who require assistance and facilitate the delivery of courses, as required Monitor Programs, Training and Assessment programs, as required Facilitation of Member qualification upskill programs, as required Supervision of Water Safety programs delivered by Volunteer Training Service club training needs in an effective and efficient manner, ensuring a best practice approach to service delivery and support Ensure appropriate and accurate levels of records are maintained at all times Support the link between LSV programs and services that pertain to club training and operations Adhere to Lifesaving Training procedures and proactively contribute to the development of training processes and standards Generate ideas for innovation and enhanced work practices to achieve organisational mission. Attend regular training and development courses, forums and meetings as required by LSV whilst maintaining an in-field presence Attend club/regional and state meetings, as required Meet with relevant internal staff to ensure a coordinated approach to service delivery and the sharing of common issues, solutions and systems Offer constructive feedback and provide a balanced and informed perspective at training and assessment meetings and forums Provide both periodical and adhoc progress reporting as required. Periodic reporting includes but is not limited to; Fortnightly Training Activity reports (peak period) Monthly reports (other periods) Monthly project planner updated Club/Regional Training meeting summary/minutes. Produce reports relating to Training and Assessment growth and development Submit data reports to Executive Councils, as required Monitor and adhere to budgetary polices and requirements, as determined by the area Manager Issued By: GM-LSCD 3 of 5 Issue Date: June-18

Strong interpersonal skills, active listening, empathy, social awareness and emotional intelligence in verbal and non-verbal communication Demonstrated experience analysing data trends and ability to prioritise and provide innovative solutions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to engage with various key stakeholders Demonstrated experience facilitating Training courses, Workshop or conduct a Presentation A basic understanding of Vocational Education and Training compliance requirements Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, be selfmotivated and work autonomously Hold Current Victorian Driver s License Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of administration support and have an understanding of IT programs - including Microsoft Word and Excel) Hold a current working with children check or ability to obtain one.
