Management of Clubs Club Management Purpose: This dimension should show your career path through a successful progression of club management positions with increasing responsibility and authority. Ideally, the job record should not show a history of short-term positions unless this is indicative of appropriate position changes early in a career or is a result of specific career goals (for example, opening a new club, managing a club closing or renovation, etc.), or through circumstances beyond your control (if so, please explain). Club Industry Involvement Purpose: The Master Club Manager must have been involved in CMAA at both the chapter and national levels. Involvement in one s professional organization indicates a willingness to give of self and time. This involvement provides one measure of contributions to the club industry. Include in this section (check to indicate enclosure; specify PDF page number[s]): 3. Involvement at CMAA Chapter Level. Show service as a chapter officer, director and/or committee member. List the positions (specify chairmanships), dates of service and major accomplishments in each position. 3 Related Professional Experience Purpose: The Master Club Manager is involved in industry and other organizations related to club management (for example, as a board member of a local or state restaurant association or in activities involving state legislative groups). Ethics/Integrity 14 Purpose: High standards of moral conduct and character are paramount for the Master Club Manager. This section should provide evidence of appropriate conduct, beliefs and attitude in working with others and conducting business. 4 Service to Others (Student/Employee/Peer Programs) Purpose: The Master Club Manager is not only personally successful, but he/she also encourages others to be successful. The maturation of others is another measure of contribution to the club industry. Include in this section (check to indicate enclosure; specify PDF page number[s]): 15. List internships in clubs or other programs that you developed or supported, which helped to recruit persons to the club industry. Be specific: provide names of individuals, dates, outline or content of program and documentation of program success; attach substantive information as necessary. See sample format on page 20, and complete using your own word processing system. Scholarly Activities Purpose: The Master Club Manager takes a scholarly approach toward the club industry. This individual is proactive and contributes to the club industry by willingly sharing his/her knowledge. 18. List all presentations you have made outside of your clubs that have contributed to the education of others. Note the date, location, content (topic) of program and group to which the presentation was made. Examples include guest lectures in hospitality courses and presentations at community meetings. List all CMAA-related educational programs in which you participated as an instructor/ facilitator or other leader. (Examples include Conference panels, seminars or clinics, etc.) Note the date, location, content of program and group to which your presentation was made. List any video or audio works produced. Indicate major published and unpublished works for which you were acknowledged as a senior contributor. With all publications, indicate where it appeared (proper bibliographic citation), a brief description of the work (or provide a copy), and its length and content. 5 Scholarly Activities continued 21. List and describe all formal programs in club management that you have taught at high schools, post-secondary institutions or in other continuing education environments. Be as specific as possible. List your submissions to CMAA s Idea Fair. Include dates of submission and a summary of the idea. Indicate those in which you were a winner. See sample format on page 22, and complete using your own word processing system. Community Service Purpose: The Master Club Manager has a positive influence upon his/her community. This area should reflect the candidate s involvement in and the contributions made to the community. 23. List of membership/involvement/honors in local, regional or national civic, charitable, church and/or family-related groups. Examples include membership in church council, Rotary, Scout leader, etc. Include the dates of involvement and level of commitment; positions held and significant activities that were the direct result of your involvement.
