1 Principal Advisor Inquiry into Operation Burnham The purpose of this position is to deliver and coordinate key work packages necessary for the successful operation of the Inquiry. You will work with the Inquiry team to develop and implement logistical work packages necessary for the Inquiry to perform its function. These will involve working with a range of stakeholders. You will also undertake pieces of analytical work in support of the Inquiry s work. The Department of Internal Affairs provides corporate support to the Inquiry into Operation Burnham, established under the Inquiries Act On 11 April 2018, the Attorney-General, the Honourable David Parker, announced that a Government Inquiry pursuant to the Inquiries Act 2013 is to be held into Operation Burnham and related matters. Sir Terence Arnold and Sir Geoffrey Palmer have been appointed to lead the independent inquiry. 3 What you will do to contribute Logistics planning and implementation Produce and implement plans that enable the Inquiry to carry out its functions, such as the coordination of hearings on Inquiry matters and the interviewing of potential witnesses Operational planning, with attention to detail, that enables the Inquiry to undertake activities necessary for its purpose and its Terms of Reference As a result we will see The smooth running of logistics necessary for the Inquiry to engage with members of the public and to undertake interviews Confirmed process and logistical arrangements that support the Inquiry to achieve its goals Stakeholder engagement Develop and maintain effective relationships focused on delivering key work packages supporting the Inquiry Provide trusted advice and contributions to the work programme supporting the Inquiry Strong, collaborative and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders A strong understanding of the Inquiry s requirements and priorities, translated to pieces of work that enable these Research, analysis and communication Undertake research and analysis to support the inquiry panel s deliberations and decisions Effectively communicate ideas, analysis and options in a range of communication channels Initiative and proactivity Demonstrate initiative in identifying and implementing opportunities that enable the Inquiry to carry out its activities Be comfortable with ambiguity and creating initiatives from scratch Health and safety (for self) Work safely and take responsibility for keeping self and colleagues free from harm Report all incidents and hazards promptly Know what to do in the event of an emergency Robust work based on sound analytical practice, working with a range of information sources Succinct and easily comprehended written work and excellent oral briefings You take ownership of your own responsibilities and actions You proactively communicate progress on tasks and provide updates when there are delays A safe and healthy workplace for all people using our sites as a place of work.
