29 What is CPD? CPD stands for Continuous Professional Development It s an online record of your paid and volunteer work It has a minimum requirement of 420 hours Almost anything can count towards your CPD if you can tell us what skills you learned or exercised in your chosen activity There are other minimum requirements, limits and restrictions as well (check the FAQs online for more details) You are strongly advised to submit more than the minimum hour and skill/reflection requirements to bolster your CV There are 9 professional skills you must reflect on It runs for the duration of your course at Monash It s required in order for you to graduate 29

Student Futures Activity including the number of hours, whether it s an Engineering or a Non-Engineering activity, and a contact person s details) Skill (or skills) Reflection (journal entry) Moodle PDFs of the above content Supporting documentation Six assessment questions 31

32 Examples of CPD activities Engineering-related experience might include: Paid or volunteer work at an Engineering company, industry site visits, Monash Engineering Leadership Program, Work Ready Program, active participation in an Engineering-based Monash Club or Society, involvement with Monash Industry Team Initiative (MITI) / Engineering Summer Research Program, Engineers Australia seminars, Engineers Without Borders, activities within your Engineering units, etc Non-Engineering-related experience might include: O Week hosting, a part-time job or volunteering at a non-engineering company, active participation in a non-engineering-based Monash Club or Society, Monash Minds, Leap Into Leadership Online, coaching a sports team, leading youth camps, Scouts and Girl Guides, training seminars, short courses, activities within non-engineering units, etc 32

33 What happens when all CPD requirements have been met? Download from Student Futures: Your CPD Completion Certificate, which will summarise your entire CPD history and contain your entire CPD Reflections in a single PDF Upload to Moodle: Your CPD Completion Certificate A single PDF of all your supporting documentation for any activity of one week (35 hours) or more (excluding curriculum activities), provided in chronological order Answer the six assessment questions in Moodle Submit for assessment 33

34 Completing the CPD process Continue to submit activities until all your hours, skills and reflections have been provided to the system In your final year, complete the assessment piece on Moodle and upload all required documentation You will be graded as Competent (pass) or Not Yet Competent (not yet passed); if the latter, you will receive further instructions on how to re-submit You are awarded your result and you can graduate 34
