1 NOTTINGHAMSHIRE POLICE JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Job title: Performance Analyst -City Centre Night Time Economy Department/Location: City Division Cental Police station Responsible to: Chief Inspector, Head of City Centre Policing Responsible for: Date: August 2014 Library No. / HMIC Classification: JOB PURPOSE To develop and produce Management Information, Intelligence, Briefing and Tasking products using the full range of Force and partner data to support the policing of Nottingham City Centre Night Time Economy. To ensure the data is produced on schedule, to defined standards and interpretation is statistically valid. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNT ABILITIES 1. To extract and collate data from a variety of sources and prepare relevant management information to meet internal and external demands, ensuring that statistical accuracy is valid. 2. To design and develop databases using relevant software applications (e.g. Excel, Access, SPSS, Xcelsius etc) in order to support management information requirements. 3. To determine and utilise the most appropriate analytical techniques and statistical processes in order to evaluate data and interpret trends, performance and outcomes resulting from Force and Partner activity. 4. To analyse performance data and trends, producing written and oral reports to demonstrate analytical findings in a clear and precise manner. 5. To attend formal and informal meetings, liasing with external partners, customer groups and internal working groups as required, presenting findings as appropriate e.g. at performance meetings. To represent the Force at external meetings, both regionally and nationally where necessary. 6. To maintain an extensive and up to date knowledge of relevant performance measurement systems and data standards for the Force, Home Office, Nottingham Crime and Drugs Partnership, HMIC, Police and Crime Commissioner, etc. 7. To provide guidance and advice to the Force on matters relating to the production and use of management information. 8. 2 opportunities and resource needs, to ensure Force/Departmental and CDP objectives are achieved. 9. 5 NOTTINGHAMSHIRE POLICE PERSON SPECIFICATION Job Title: Performance Analyst Department: City Division City Centre Policing Date: 20/08/14 Library No.: CRITERIA KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Demonstrable experience in the use of Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Excel and Access. Will be able to evidence the ability to create databases, formulae, pivot tables and use basic statistical functions Experience in obtaining qualitative and quantitative data through appropriate means. Will have 1-2 years experience in gathering data from variety of sources Experience in analysing information using a variety of analysis tools and statistical approaches. Production of pre-defined data sets through the use of tables, crosstabs, and graphs. Calculations using specific statistical techniques. METHOD OF ASSESSMENT SKILLS AND ABILITIES An ability to understand and grasp situations and analyse them in a logical manner using appropriate techniques. 1-2 years experience in the interpretation and reporting of performance results to management. The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals throughout the organisation and externally. Expected to liaise with Divisional/ Departmental representatives. Expected to prepare reports and deliver presentations to senior officers, PCC, CDP and partners. The ability to work effectively as part of multi disciplinary teams or as an Individual. Lead small teams dealing with specific tasks EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION The post holder will be expected to hold, or be in the process of obtaining, suitable formal qualifications e.g. a statistically based Degree, OR have proven experience in a relevant discipline.
