1 THE DURHAM TEES VALLEY COMMUNITY REHABILITATION COMPANY LIMITED JOB DESCRIPTION POST Head of Marketing and Communications FUNCTION Marketing and Communications ACCOUNTABLE TO Director of Resources LOCATION Durham and Stockton JOB PURPOSE To provide leadership on all insight and marketing and communications activity and to manage a team and/or agencies to deliver this. This will involve creating and delivering effective research analysis, intelligence and insights that drive strategic decision making. The role holder will also be responsible for leading a values based culture and ensuring that the brand of the organisation is maintained in all activities. CONTEXT OF ROLE Under the direction of the Head of Marketing and Communications, the team is responsible for supporting a range of growth initiatives and developing the brand of the CRC. The Head of Marketing and Communications role requires liaison with a wide range of managers and colleagues across the CRC, as well as to represent the CRC in meetings with external contacts at local level and occasionally at regional or national level. The areas of responsibility associated with a particular post may be amended from time to time, and it is expected that the postholder will operate flexibly and undertake any other tasks and projects which could reasonably be expected.

2 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES STAFF MANAGEMENT 1 To identify induction, training and development needs of allocated colleagues within the Business Development team and when required, to take necessary action to meet these needs. 2 To organise workload of allocated colleagues within the team effectively, ensuring that work is allocated on an appropriate and equitable basis, and is completed to the required quality standards within the required timescales. 3 To provide advice, support and direction to allocated colleagues within the team in respect of technical or complex issues arising from workload. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 4 Support the Executive Team by leading and managing the provision of professional expertise and support ensuring that the service provides high levels of stakeholder satisfaction. 5 Lead the development and delivery of the Marketing and Communications Service Annual Plan, by organising, planning and prioritising own work activities, and the work of others where appropriate, to ensure short, medium and long term objectives are met. 6 Lead and contribute to the continual review of processes, procedures and practices within own area of responsibility to ensure that the needs and expectations of relevant stakeholders are met. 7 Ensure fair and consistent application of the CRCs policies and procedures, and professional service standards within own area of responsibility. 8 Lead the development of a collaborative, collegiate and inclusive culture, by creating opportunities for sharing information and good practice with others. 9 Work co-operatively and maintain effective relationships with others as appropriate, building networks which will assist and inform the development of the service. 10 Contribute to initiatives within own area of responsibility, and the wider business, through participation in committees, working groups, and other internal or external events as required. 11 Develop and maintain a specialist knowledge and expertise of own area of responsibility, providing leadership and guidance to others as appropriate. 12 Contribute to the development of others, supporting succession planning and talent management activities, including the appraisal of others where appropriate. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 13 Work with the Executive Team, to provide market intelligence information and consumer customer analysis to deliver the overall Strategy. 14 Work with a wide range of internal clients to develop, design, plan and implement appropriate research, branding and communications frameworks 15 Use a wide range of both qualitative and quantitative research techniques to gather data to inform decisions, for example on new interventions, target markets and competitor positioning. 16 Undertake desk research to provide market intelligence to inform marketing activity. 17 To manage the briefing and delivery of market intelligence and consumer/customer research with suppliers in the UK and internationally (where appropriate). To provide recommendations to the Executive Team based on market consumer understanding to develop interventions and other

3 products. 18 Undertake customer analysis and profiling to improve understanding of participants and the factors impacting the choices they make. 19 Conduct competitor analysis and benchmark performance against competitors. 20 Work closely with relevant peers throughout the business The following areas of work may be required as part of this management role on occasions but are not a significant part of the day to day responsibilities: 21 To contribute to the recruitment and selection process in order to select colleagues for posts either within the allocated business area or across the CRC as appropriate. 22 To contribute to development and training activities for colleagues across the CRC, and externally, as required. 23 To contribute to specific projects as allocated by the Senior Leadership Team or a Senior Manager.
