3 NATIONAL STANDARDS FOR VOLUNTEER INVOLVEMENT Implementing the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement 4.5 hrs (includes refreshments and lunch) Members $110 (inc GST) Non members $145 (inc GST) This workshop will assist you in benchmarking your organisation against the industry s best practice as outlined in the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement. These Standards were developed in 2015 by Volunteering Australia with thorough consultation with the sector. The result is a user friendly guide of best practice for volunteer management that is adaptable to the diversity of organisations, large and small that it relates to. This workshop will provide you with an overview of the Standards, along with resources and reading to educate yourself further. During the workshop you will receive some practical advice on implementing the Standards in your workplace, while you discussing ideas and concerns. Ultimately you will end up with the start of an Action Plan to and understanding of what the next steps are for your organisation towards implementing the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement This workshop is ideal for anyone with governance or management responsibility, or volunteer managers or coordinators. By looking at best practice and identifying how your organisation is and can improve, you will work towards improving your organisational outcomes and protect the asset that is your volunteers. 4 WORKING WITH VOLUNTEERS 6.5 hrs (includes refreshments and lunch) Members $132 (inc GST) Non members $154 (inc GST) Welcome volunteers: Setting up best practice in recruitment and retention for your volunteers This workshop takes an action plan approach to improving your organisations processes around the recruitment, induction, and development of volunteers. Reviewing the relevant National Standards of Volunteer Involvement, legal consideration, current trends in volunteering and recruitment practices will firstly lay the foundations for the workshop. You will have the chance to reflect on your organisations practices through exploring case studies and discussions within the group on recruitment practices and recognition strategies. By considering these you will find ways to improve your organisations performance and ensure you are getting a good fit for your organisation and the volunteer. Participants will be able to take away the start of an action plan that will be a road map towards best practice in recruiting volunteers. 7 hrs (includes breaks and lunch) Members $132 (inc GST) Non members $154 (inc GST) The volunteering journey with your not-for-profit In this workshop we take time to consider some key milestones for organisations when obtaining new volunteers. As a not-for-profit, presence in the community is sometimes the first impression a volunteer has of you. What is the journey for a volunteer with your organisation from initial contact through to being an irreplaceable resource to your organisation? We look at the first impressions, the recruitment and the management of the team and working with behaviours both good and not so good.

Have you considered what has to be in place within your organisational plans and policies and other legal requirements as well as internal procedures and behaviours? Setting these governance requirements up well will ensure a successful volunteer program for your organisation and the volunteer. It will cover organisational support for volunteer programs, governance, policies and procedures and their place within the framework of National Standards. This workshop will be useful for organisation managers and volunteer coordinators. Introduction to recruitment and retention of volunteers This workshop is an introduction to good practice in recruiting, inducting, supporting and developing volunteers within your organisation. It will give an overview of some key areas for volunteer organisations to consider when building their volunteer team. This workshop will cover: --Current trends in volunteering --Getting a good fit for your organisation and the volunteer --Recruitment and induction --Retention and recognition practices --Legal context and considerations --Explore case studies to assist in understanding the responsibilities around recruiting and maintaining a volunteer workforce The workshop will include handouts. 7 hrs (includes breaks and lunch) Members $132 (inc GST) Non members $154 (inc GST) Supervising volunteers This workshop is an introduction to some of the key principles to assist you in developing a stronger volunteer team. Whilst giving an overview of some key areas, you will gain knowledge from the latest research and the group that will assist you in aiming for best practice in volunteer supervision.

6 BEING A BOARD MEMBER 4.5 hrs (includes refreshments and lunch) Members $110 (inc GST) Non members $145 (inc GST) How to enjoy being on a committee Be confident in the role you are doing. Understand the legal and ethical requirements. Then all you have to offer is your skills and positive ideas. In this information packed session you will be guided through: --Structures of a committee or board, --Roles people undertake --Legal and ethical compliance --Strategic planning --Meeting etiquette This session is an overview of each of the areas with handouts and information to enable participants to implement improvements and changes to their practices. Strategic planning for volunteer-involving organisations This workshop firstly focuses on ways to look at your organisation and the environment it operates in, trends and opportunities. It will provide tools to identify realistic goals for the future and how to make a plan to achieve them. With practical tools and templates, case studies and discussion, this workshop will enable you to learn from others in the class. You will go away with useful ideas to implement a strategic planning process in your organisation. The workshop will include workbooks and resources and changes to their practices. Governance An introduction to some key principles of good governance within a not-for-profit organisation. This session will have participants learning from each other through activities and discussion of key principles such as board structure, planning, legal and ethical compliance, stakeholder engagement, operational management and people management to name a few. This session is an overview of each of the areas with handouts and information to enable participants to implement improvements and changes to their practices.

7 OUR LATEST TRAINING Your volunteers are your brand This workshop will explore why and how people are relevant to your organisation's brand. Taking an experiential approach to identify and embed your brand so that you can make your brand a living and breathing identity. We will explore strategies you can undertake to create brand ambassadors out of your volunteers. Blending the knowledge of marketing with what we know of volunteer engagement, this exciting workshop will help to give you tools to start a conversation about brand and people management within your organisation. Humility approach to welcoming volunteers With the diversity of our populations organisations have an ability to attract volunteers from a broad range of backgrounds and community sectors. With this in mind, this workshop looks at cultural humility as a way of being inclusive in practices and mindset. This approach enables volunteers to be welcomed and become strong members of your team. This workshop will be useful for volunteer coordinators, volunteers and organisational management. Building your dream team Have you wondered how best to recruit your dream team? What can you do to ensure you are selecting volunteers that will grow with your organisation and become integral to the success of your projects and programs? This workshop looks at how to define what you need and strategies to attract them. Once you have selected them, how do you work with them and involve them in your organisation giving the rewarding experience and learning from their knowledge, skills and abilities.
