1 A GUIDE FOR JOB APPLICANTS Applying for a Position Appointments to positions with ACON are based on merit. This means that the applicant who is judged to be the most capable of carrying out the duties of the position will be offered the job. The decision to appoint is based on the applicant s written application, performance at interview, referees check, Criminal Record Check and/or Working with Children Check. Please note that the records checks will only be required on offer of employment and will only be conducted at the end of the recruitment process once you have been identified as the successful candidate and consented to the checks. The Job Advertisement The job advertisement and the position description provide the basis for the selection process as they specify precisely the selection criteria, competencies and experience needed to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position. Preparing an Application Your written application must stand on its merits. Do not assume that the selection panel knows what you have achieved in the past. If you do not demonstrate how you meet the criteria for the position you will not be called for an interview. The completeness and relevance of your application will determine whether or not you are called for an interview. Where a large number of applicants meet the essential and desirable requirements, only those applicants who most strongly meet the requirements will be selected for interview. There are three (3) steps to preparing an application: 1. Complete an ACON Employment Application Form (available at and attach it with your application. 2. Address all of the Selection Criteria as outlined in the following position description. You are required to state how your skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications relate to the position. To do this, address each criteria separately in point form. You should use statements with examples that clearly demonstrate your competency in a particular area. Applicants who fail to demonstrate that they meet the requirements of the position will not be invited to attend an interview. 3. Attach an updated copy of your resume, including the contact details of three referees, one of which may be a personal referee.

3 Position Title: Work Level: Senior Program Manager, Pride in Diversity Manager Reports to Director, Pride Inclusion Programs Direct Reports This position currently has five direct reports. Position Overview This position combines the management of Pride in Diversity Relationship Managers alongside key stakeholder engagement, business/funds development and operational reporting and administration. This is a busy role that requires energy and commitment to meeting outcomes while juggling multiple tasks and competing priorities. Sitting within the Pride Inclusion Programs management team, this position works closely with the Director, Pride Inclusion Programs to ensure delivery against the documented business plan. The position will include a high level of engagement with both current and prospective Pride in Diversity members nationally and will play a key role in sponsorship acquisition and the development of new and existing strategic partnerships critical to assisting Pride in Diversity grow and fund current and future operations. Main Activities Management of Pride in Diversity relationship managers, ensuring critical engagement with members, accurate and timely reporting and delivery against broader Pride in Diversity plans. Active national engagement of key stakeholders, critical members and sponsors to ensure ongoing engagement and funding for the program. Active support of Melbourne office in terms of resource management, strategic engagement and key events. Actively secure and report on sponsorship opportunities and additional funding or pro bono support to ensure the ongoing sustainability and success of the Pride in Diversity program, and broader divisional programs as required. Actively seek to participate in key conferences, networking events, industry events and member events to promote the ongoing work of the Pride in Diversity program and broader divisional programs as required, including Senior Ally Program run jointly by PwC. Actively take on member management, training program delivery, assist or manage consulting projects and events as required to support the ongoing deliverables of the national team in times of high workload and/or limited resources. Effectively manage all roundtables, networking events, WebEx training and Train the Trainer Programs, nationally. Effectively manage of all communications relating to Pride in Diversity Membership, including monthly newsletters, LGBTI dates of significance and critical updates. Page 3 of 5

4 Active engagement with mainstream media, gay press and key industry publications as required to promote the work of Pride Inclusion Programs and events. Actively track and manage performance of all relationship managers to ensure optimum client satisfaction and gauge client satisfaction via ongoing contact and communication with membership leads. Manage and track performance against all KPI s and program plans. In addition, ongoing activity requires the incumbent to: Actively participate in the scoring of the AWEI and the management of team deliverables according to the AWEI plan communicated by the Director, Pride Inclusion Programs. Actively participate in, and contribute to the success of the Pride in Practice annual conference. Produce timely and accurate monthly report on all activity as directed by Director, Pride Inclusion Programs. Take personal responsibility for, and management of performance against plan to ensure timely delivery of KPIs, mitigating and communicating risk of non-delivery as and when required. Identify and act on opportunities for improvement of existing programs/services. Manage the development, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of individual activities and outputs to achieve established goals and objectives in line with Pride in Diversity business plans. Actively participate in and contribute to an ongoing process of program development, team meetings, general staff meetings, quality improvement and professional development strategies. Perform other duties to assist with the work of the Pride in Diversity as requested by your supervisor (or designate). Manage any interpersonal conflict or disruption within the team or member organisations quickly and professionally to ensure maximum team cohesion and program engagement. Page 4 of 5

5 Selection Criteria: Essential Solid understanding of workplace diversity strategy development, initiatives and experience with LGBTI workplace inclusion programs. Experience managing a team of direct reports for optimal engagement, team cohesion and productivity. Ability to negotiate difficult situations diplomatically for optimal results and buy-in Ability to form strategic partnerships and secure pro bono support or sponsorship for key program activities and/or future development. Proven ability to engage mainstream media and relevant industry publications for editorials, stories or coverage of key pieces of work. Experience in the delivery of training programs, presentations and conference keynotes. Experience with the use of technology for real-time engagement or webinar/podcast/e-learning applications. Superior organisational capability and/or ability to juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities. Energy, passion and a commitment to results and exceptional service Exceptional people and service delivery skills with ability to deal with difficult situations diplomatically as required. Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment where jobs may overlap, funding and resources are limited and team collaboration and engagement is essential. Desirable Proven ability to grow a business or brand with high value engagement from key stakeholders and sponsors. Qualifications in Management, Organisational Psychology, HR, Marketing or Communications. Formal training qualification; Cert IV or higher. Consulting / Sales background highly regarded. Previous experience with Pride in Diversity and/or the AWEI highly regarded. Experience presenting to Boards. Additional Information This is a full time position offered on a two year contract (with possible renewal) and based in Sydney The salary range for this position is negotiable commensurate with demonstrated applicable skills and experience. You may also elect to salary package a portion of your salary (up to $30,000 gross-up value) tax-free.
