Introduction to the role The Manager, Student Placement Unit, is responsible for leading the Student Placement Unit team to source and maintain business and industry relationships that will provide an ongoing supply of professional student placements. This role will be responsible for planning and implementing the Student Placement Unit s strategy to manage the growing requirement for quality student placements across NPI. Working with key contacts within schools the Manager will ensure that all placements meet the academic requirements of the associated course. The Manager is responsible for policy development, administrative leadership and operational management of the Student Placement Team. The role reports to the Dean Development and Partnerships and will be responsible for placement services to transition from a school based model to a shared services model servicing 4 schools ultimately with a team of 16. Selection Criteria Essential Higher education qualification in area of relevance to programs offered by NPI Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team in the VET and/or Higher Education sector(s) Demonstrated high level business development skills Ability to coordinate and contribute to strategic and business planning Demonstrated ability to liaise successfully with external organisations at a high level to establish relationships leading to student placement opportunities Ability to develop and implement strategic plans Willingness to engage in and contribute to an organisational culture that fosters personal responsibility and initiative and a strong commitment to better outcomes Demonstrated ability for using Microsoft office software or equivalent and substantial experience using databases Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix environment with multiple stakeholders High level interpersonal, oral and written communication skills Ability to lead change management initiatives within an educational setting Awareness of WHS, anti-discrimination and privacy issues and the ability to comply with relevant legislation and ensure compliance Desirable Postgraduate qualification in area of relevance to position Experience with SONIA or equivalent placement management systems About us Navitas Professional Institute comprises four colleges (Australian College of Applied Psychology, ACAP; Navitas College of Public Safety, NCPS; Health Skills Australia, HSA.; and Australian TESOL Training Centre, ATTC); offering qualifications in Higher Education (from Bachelor to Masters) in the areas of psychology, counselling, social work and criminal justice and Vocational Education Training in case management, counselling, health (nursing, aged care) and English TESOL Training.

Key Result Areas (Areas of Accountability and Responsibility) 3.1 Strategic Leadership and Direction Set the strategic direction for NPI Student Placement Unit in consultation with key senior staff stakeholders

4 Develop strategic KPIs and scope of accountabilities in relation to service support to schools Foster collaborative and mutually-beneficial relationships with other PEP Division and Navitas businesses with regard to business development and resource planning opportunities Establish and maintain strong, effective working partnerships with key stakeholder groups, including staff, academic team, teaching staff, students, agencies and supervisors to enhance the quality and reputation of student placements Develop NPI wide placement policies taking into account the different requirements for each of the schools Oversee the implementation and user training for the ongoing development of the placement management system (SONIA) Explore and develop proposal to expand Student Placement Unit to include student career service 3.2 Financial and risk management Ensures that NPI maintains and improves profitability by: Contributing to NPI innovation and ideas generation Maintaining an approach to the business that is creative, commercial and profit oriented Achieving agreed annual targets as detailed in the annual performance plan Contributing through the work of the Student Placement Unit to business development opportunities for NPI Managing risk within area of responsibility including ensuring insurance policies are current and provide appropriate cover 3.3 Change Management Scope and deliver the change management process to establish a dedicated Student Placement Unit for NPI 3.4 Employment relations Ensures the highest standard of staff by: Developing and managing an effective team Modelling high standards of work performance Directing the recruitment of high quality staff as agreed and in line with requirements Ensuring the consistent and fair application of effective HR management practices Ensuring that reward and recognition programs for employees are appropriate Ensuring the application of effective performance management for staff Fully briefing ongoing and acting successors to this position and to any roles reporting to this position Ensuring that this functional area s staff are effectively inducted, trained, motivated and afforded equal employment opportunity
