4 EDA PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE MODULES Summary Fundamentals of Electricity Health & Safety Customer Care Cables & Wiring Accessories Lamps & Lighting Luminaires Industrial Components Electrical Heating & Ventilation Switchgear Distribution & Protection Renewable Energy Content is created & maintained by EDA Affiliates, Association partners & MOL Each Module = 40 hours of learning over 12 weeks (just under 3.5 hours/week) No attendance at college required Undertaken in learners own time combined with help from other branch or depot staff Tutor support available from MOL City Guilds certificates awarded: Pass, Merit & Distinction Once graded, learner keeps book as reference

6 Education & Training YTD Summary Product Knowledge sales in 2015 Average sales of 162 per month, 27% increase on module sales currently standing at 1623 in 2015 Currently surpassing 2014 total module sales by 13% Apprenticeships 529 expressions of interest YTD in 2015 On target to double the number of EOI received in 2014 Over 300 apprentices currently undertaking NVQ s Target to have our own recognised apprenticeship by Autumn 2016.

18 Overview BIS 10 Point plan for 3 million Apprenticeships Apprenticeship Incentives The Apprenticeship Obligation The Levy

19 Government s 3 Million Apprenticeships target. BIS -Outlining a ten-point plan (11th November 2015). 1. Quality Put employers in control of designing the standards that apprentices train against and the assessment plans that they will be assessed against 2. Funding If employers have already invested in apprenticeships, we think many more will be wanting use the programme to get back what they ve put in. The Levy.

Large businesses We are also looking at businesses and trying to make our strategy for engaging with very large companies. 6. Marketing and communications From research, it was interesting that parents were the main group who didn t really understand. apprenticeships.

Careers advice and guidance Advice and guidance so that people are able to hear about apprenticeships and get the right information to make the right choices. 8. Delivery of training Working with providers so that they are in a good position to offer training that employers will want to expand programme take up numbers.

Steady state system We are going to need a steady state system of apprenticeship governance. 10. Degree and higher level apprenticeships To reach the 3m apprenticeship target this does include growing more at the higher and degree level as a proportion of the overall programme. The government will be working with Training Providers and Universities to develop higher apprenticeships to meet the needs of employers.

30 The Obligation (The Levy) What happens to unused money collected by the new Apprenticeships Levy? How will the proposed Apprenticeships Levy work in Scotland and Wales? How does this affect the Richard Review reforms, in which employers will be expected to pay a one-third contribution to the cost of post-19 apprenticeships? What happens to smaller companies?
