1 JOB DESCRIPTION 1. JOB TITLE: ADMINISTRATOR 2. HRMS REFERENCE NUMBER: HRMS/ ROLE CODE: FINADMIN02 4. DEPARTMENT: SNAP Services Team 5. ORGANISATION CHART: Reports to the SNAP Co-ordinator. 6. JOB PURPOSE: To provide administrative support to assist with the day to day running of the SNAP service and PARE project. The post holder will function as the first point of contact for any customer queries relating to the SNAP service or PARE project to ensure a high level reputation is maintained. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining all project documentation and will attend meetings and marketing events to assist with minute taking and organisation. 7. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Standardised Numeracy Assessment Process (SNAP) provides online numeracy assessment and education to healthcare and educational organisations across England. SNAP provides new and existing students and healthcare professionals with a platform to develop their numeracy skills and ensure they are confident and competent when dealing with drug calculations and administration. SNAP also offers other professions the opportunity to develop their skills to ensure they are numerate within their roles. The Practice Assessment Record and Evaluation (PARE) tool provides a platform for multiprofessional students to provide key feedback regarding placements they have completed as part of their University course. This feedback is used to provide student regulators with significant information which is used to improve and develop placement areas for future students. The Practice Assessment Record is an online document which provides details of all placement related information to students, Universities and Service Providers.

2 8. WORK PERFORMED AND/OR KEY RESULT AREAS: 8.1 Communicating Effectively Responsible for answering routine enquiries on a daily basis related to SNAP Services and the Online PARE project. Explaining detailed information relating to the products on offer to all new and existing customer organisations on a daily basis as a point of expertise in the team. To take minutes at SNAP team / PARE project meetings on a regular basis 8.2 Leadership and Working Collaboratively The role holder is expected to work as an effective member of SNAP Services and the PARE project team with responsibility of co-ordinating on-going administrative tasks completed by other members of the team. 8.3 Liaison and Networking To provide information to members of staff in the wider SNAP and Online PARE team. To liaise with all new and existing customer organisations from both innovations and provide information to market the services to potential customers. 8.4 Delivering a High Quality Standard of Service To provide a high level of customer service to all customers 8.5 Effective Decision Making When responding to queries, to take independent decisions on how to respond to queries and who to refer queries to. To provide advice to the SNAP Project Administrator to enable them to make a decision on purchasing, e.g marketing and promotional materials. To make decisions autonomously regarding administrative queries relating to the SNAP products and PARE system to ensure customer issues are dealt with and resolved. 8.6 Planning and Organising Self and Others To work autonomously to plan and prioritise own work between SNAP services and the Online PARE project to ensure deadlines are met. 8.7 Innovation and Improvement (Effective Problem Solving) To resolve standard and non-standard problems that arise, with reference to the SNAP Co-ordinator. To put new approaches or preventative measures in place to avoid reoccurrence of problems.

3 8.8 Analysis and Research Responsible for collation and manipulation of service date, including: usage reports, customer satisfaction and changes in culture to inform the SNAP Co-ordinator of progress on a quarterly basis. 8.9 Sensory and Physical Demands Standard for office work 8.10 Work Environment Office environment with no responsibility for the health and safety of others beyond due care 8.11 Pastoral Care and Welfare Expected to show basic sensitivity to colleagues and customers Team Development To provide information and guidance on administrative processes to any new members of staff in the team Teaching and Learning Support This is not a requirement of the role 8.14 Knowledge and Experience The role holder will have sufficient knowledge or expertise to work on day to day issues in their own area without direct or continuous reference to others. Applicants who have not clearly demonstrated in their application that they possess the essential requirements will normally be rejected at the shortlisting stage. Requirements are those that would be useful for the post holder to possess and will be considered when more than one applicant meets the essential requirements. Method of identification is where the selection panel will match the candidate s skills and abilities to the required criteria outlined (i.e. application form, interview, test).

6 UNIVERSITY OF CHESTER TERMS & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT FACULTY OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE ADMINISTRATOR FIXED TERM CONTRACT UNTIL MARCH 2015 SALARY SCALE University Scale OS5, 19,802-21,597 per annum, payable monthly in arrears. HOURS OF WORK Monday Thursday Friday 8.30am 5.00pm 8.30am 4.00pm (less 1 hour lunch each day) A flexible approach to work will be required as there may be occasions when it would be necessary for you to work additional hours as dictated by the workload. The Faculty of Health and Social Care operates a flexi-time policy. RESIDENCE REQUIREMENT It is a requirement of this post that within 12 months of appointment, the post-holder should live within a 30 mile radius or within a one hour travelling time by public transport from the University. HOLIDAY ENTITLEMENT 22 days per annum (pro-rata during the commencement and cessation years), rising to 27 days after five years' continuous service. Two extra statutory days during the Christmas period. MEDICAL EXAMINATION Successful candidates will be required to complete an Occupational Health questionnaire, and may be required to undergo a medical examination. ESSENTIAL CERTIFICATES Short-listed candidates will be asked to bring to interview, proof of qualifications as outlined on the Job Description and Person Specification provided. Upon appointment, copies of essential certificates will be required by HRM Services. PENSION SCHEME The University operates two pension schemes for support staff: The default scheme is the Higher Education Defined Contribution Scheme (HEDCS), which is administered by Friends Life. The Cheshire Local Government Pension Scheme, to which the University is an admitted body. All support staff are entitled to participate in one of these schemes. Some staff will be automatically enrolled into a scheme, depending on their age and earnings, but if they do not wish to remain a member of the scheme, they will be entitled to opt out after enrolment.
