Call Amoráh (425) or Jody (206) or us at (NOTE: both of us receive messages ed to this address) Thank you very much for your interest! The main categories of CCEs are: *Coach Continuing Education (CCE) Information ICF Core Competencies (see examples of coach specific training below) Personal development of the coach (growth activities existing outside of ICF Core Competencies) Business development and marketing (building the coach s practice) Other skills and tools (techniques/systems directly applicable to coaching) The type of credit recognized for the program is important to ICF member coaches. Member coaches applying for or renewing a credential primarily benefit from Coach Specific Training. Thus, programs that include this focus will be given priority in the selection process. Coach Specific Training Details 1. Definition: Coach Specific Training is training that is predominantly marketed as teaching coaching skills. The major emphasis is on coaching skills or applying technical skills as a coach; while in a manner consistent with the ICF Core Competencies. 2. Training that is marketed as teaching other skills, even though the skills can be used by a coach in some manner, does not count as coach specific training. In addition, personal development courses do not count as coach specific training. Likewise, education in other areas such as psychology, counseling, NLP, etc., does not count as coach specific training unless it was actually taught as coach training and from an ICF Core Competencies perspective. 5 If your program content can be shown to relate to the ICF Core Competencies, in whole or in part, it will be most helpful to the audience of participants. In preparing your application, please indicate which ICF Core Competencies your program will address and how you will tailor your presentation to have a coach specific training focus. See the example provided on the next page. Example of Coach Specific Training Description A. Subjects covered: The content of my program will present a proven, systematic, practical, and spiritually based process designed to assist coaches to begin coaching new clients quickly and easily to help them make a profound, transformational difference in their clients lives. It will also address how to assist clients to focus on their true life purpose; consistent with their vision and values, and who they are overall, as opposed to what they do in the world, career, profession, etc. B. The program will enhance, specifically, the following ICF Core Competencies: 1. Coaching Presence Sees many ways to work with the client, and chooses in the moment what is most effective. This applies because the system I'm presenting is providing new ways, a new framework and coaching modality with which to work with the client. 2. Powerful Questioning Asks questions that evoke discovery, insight, commitment or action (e.g., those that challenge the client's assumptions). This applies because the program provides new questions and language for the coach to use to help the client focus on his/her true purpose, vision and values. 3. Direct Communication Reframes and articulates to help the client understand from another perspective what he/she wants or is uncertain about. This applies because the program enhances the coach s ability to reframe a client s uncertainty with concepts of purpose, vision and values. 4. Creating Awareness Ability to integrate and accurately evaluate multiple sources of information, and to make interpretations that help the client to gain awareness and thereby achieve agreed-upon results. E. Communicates broader perspectives to clients and inspires commitment to shift their viewpoints and find new possibilities for action. This applies because the program provides the coach a new framework by which to make interpretations of clients situations, help them see things from a new perspective and thereby find new possibilities.
