15 Dec 31, :02 AM Let the employees know that they are valued. If not by money, by praise. All too often, the employee hears what they are doing wrong, rather than what they are doing right!! Look into employees and see where you can tighten the belt on those that are there getting paid to "put in the hours", rather than "work". 16 Dec 31, :33 AM advertise job opportunities recruit State employees living in Galt HIRE MORE SENIOR CITIZENS JR COLLEGE FOR HIGH SCHOOL 17 Dec 31, :56 AM PARTIME HELP GRADUATES 18 Dec 31, :36 AM enforce property owners to clean up rentals only allow community based businesses to move to Galt. 19 Dec 31, :15 AM Pay a living wage 20 Dec 30, :10 PM people can't make a living on part time hours...make more full-time jobs available. i am not saying there is no need for part-time help, but what i have seen is: good employees leaving city service because they can't make a living on Part-time. With the new labor laws about "part-time" hours becoming "full-time" employees (i.e. 30 hours a week+) make those employees that have been doing great job full-time position encourage additional training &'advection for advancement tell new employees what they are being hired for, i.e. part-time, full time, or will call. people need jobs that work them, not have them wait to be called in build more affordable housing. Don't let long term employees stay if they aren't doing the job give part-time employees workable hours, so they can find another job if needed. 21 Dec 30, :00 PM Provide better health benefits Recruit at career fairs at local colleges Increase diversity of job types 22 Dec 30, :38 PM Stop putting in Dollar stores make small old town feel like Danville, Ca 23 Dec 30, :18 PM Higher wages More corporations training, college credits starting in high school part time employment. College expenses with signed work 24 Dec 30, :55 PM commitment (in years) develop mentor program 25 Dec 30, :47 PM Walmart employees are not Galt keep standards high 26 Dec 30, :27 PM bring in strong businesses better quality stores other than another big box store like Walmart tax incentives, discounts, utilities, perks to stay in a job

27 Dec 30, :45 PM Higher Wages for non management positions No mandatory "DUES" Continued salary raises for loyal/long-term employees 28 Dec 30, :37 PM Attract Reputable employers and employment opportunities 29 Dec 30, :12 PM Already have quality employees, maintain benefits and pay as a compensation package 30 Dec 30, :10 PM This should not be a goal 31 Dec 30, :44 AM advertising show the positive of live in Galt 32 Dec 30, :52 AM No suggestions Make sure the posting has careful, 33 Dec 30, :26 AM Keep the process open Oversight or double evaluations Do what we can, but trying to keep up with other cities is a lose-lose 34 Dec 30, :49 AM idea. Promote small town Hire people with in-kind skills as well utilize employees skills as opposed to 35 Dec 30, :33 AM as degrees hiring outside consultants There are plenty of people local that Consider Galt residents as a priority are qualified. Post jobs on the city over others with the same 36 Dec 30, :45 AM website. qualifications. 37 Dec 30, :19 AM excellent leadership starts at the top Train and bring in positive role 38 Dec 30, :31 AM models a balance between hourly and management staffing Hire local Galtonians that have a vested interest in the community specific wording Promote having more exposure to more job responsibilities in a small town promote from within existing employee pools on going staff training Fire people that don't do their job 39 Dec 30, :17 AM Give them room for promotions Make a decent wage Give them knowledgeable training Training programs offered for small businesses to improve employee 40 Dec 29, :24 PM retention 41 Dec 29, :51 PM Provide competitive pay and benefits Supervisors review employee performance biannually Promote based only upon merit 42 Dec 29, :01 PM affordability incentives to bring businesses here Bring in health services to serve Value education when selecting 43 Dec 29, :55 PM employees employees 44 Dec 29, :47 PM Need the businesses to do that. Currently, not enough businesses in Galt to provide a "Family Wage" see above Goal #3

45 Dec 29, :12 PM Offer additional retirement benefit incentives such as increasing contributions towards health insurance premiums. Increase pay scales over the next two fiscal years. 46 Dec 29, :02 PM More affordable NEW housing! New homes being built start in the mid 300k range, that's not affordable and doesn't help attract quality employees. Lowering PERS from 2.7 to 2% wasn't good, maybe the City should go back to 2.7%. 47 Dec 27, :50 PM Attract better businesses and higher wage jobs. 48 Dec 24, :53 PM treat employees fair with dignity pay a decent wage 49 Dec 23, :32 PM 50 Dec 23, :55 PM 51 Dec 23, :43 PM stop hiring consultants. use the staff we have Apply the City values to all employees; to include part-time being treated as we treat our fulltime employees with consideration of expanded benefits. compensation - like it or not you are competing with larger municipalities 52 Dec 23, :06 AM encourage $10.10 hr. wages My employees go out of town of continuing education. This town is too small to get quality providers to 53 Dec 23, :39 AM teach here. most people will work for less just knowing they can work in town To attract a much higher quality candidate pool, hire full-time for positions that the City knows there will be funding for in out years; explore what other cities are currently doing to attract and retain employees. streamlined bargaining process, someone with decision making authority should be at the table look at increasing worker benefits: medical, vision, dental, 401k, Higher education program Current business licenses are based on the number of employees. Why not have a fixed fee for the license? For the City as a whole, higher paying jobs need to come to the City, right now it's just a pit stop on 99. Take a new look at how hire and salary surveys are being done; currently due to low salaries and inappropriate job classifications we are definitely not attracting quality applicant pools. Take a harder look at how the City is conducting training and succession planning for the future of their employees. Good programs - workout on duty, better education reimbursement programs a pleasant work atmosphere

54 Dec 23, :00 AM Total Compensation Statements - This document shows more than just the salary an employee earns, but also what the City contributes towards health insurance, 401K, vacation, PTO, overtime...this way the employee see the total value of working for the city. Develop an internship with local colleges for the exposure to the city. 55 Dec 22, :47 PM BETTER MARKETING AND SCREENING Celebrate and recognize the longtime employees within the community. 56 Dec 22, :02 PM Increase salaries/incentives for staff 57 Dec 22, :58 PM Add new full time staff where necessary so employees are not bogged down with two and three fields of work Offer more full-time jobs to long time part-time employees that have proven themselves valuable. This is the main problem as most people cannot afford to continue working part-time year after year, with no 58 Dec 22, :56 PM benefits or health care. Settle the PD contract by bringing the compensation up to par with the 59 Dec 22, :18 PM surrounding communities Review all city departments 60 Dec 22, :37 AM productivity Salary commensurate with Sacramento, Elk Grove, Stockton. City constantly loses good people to neighboring cities once we train. Retention and recruitment cannot be had without offering competitive wages Galt is a very interesting and dynamic place to work. Treat your part-time staff equal to your fulltime staff. 61 Dec 21, :36 PM Tone of an organization is set by management. Ethical conduct must be consistent and uniform in everyday application. Employees of quality do not suffer lightly those in management who engage in conduct of questionable character. Providing education incentives is good, but even better is offering those same employees advancement opportunities. Playing "favorites" in promotional opportunities is not conducive to retaining employees of quality.

62 Dec 21, :19 PM local college don't offer enough basic core classes, it would be nice to have a satellite school here for people to take their general Ed courses and earn their AA degrees 63 Dec 20, :43 PM Have room for growth Provide strong training programs for employees and mangers which will help Galt be more professional. Create a good environment where departments work together and support each other. 64 Dec 20, :34 PM 65 Dec 20, :46 PM Quit playing... go along to get along with staff wages. The benefits and retirements you pay top level positions is going to kill us. Stop playing politics between elections! 66 Dec 20, :32 PM Pay a competitive salary Have employees donate to their benefit package offer flex saving accounts Incentives for professional education 67 Dec 20, :13 PM attract more manufacturing business for more stability for employees 68 Dec 20, :47 PM Recognize employees who create competencies and efficiencies within their respective departments. 69 Dec 20, :50 AM Never hear about job openings Offer internships to college students 70 Dec 20, :59 AM via CRC 71 Dec 20, :54 AM more promotional opportunities 72 Dec 20, :22 AM pay more than min wage to starting employees. I think they would stay longer and not look for better paying jobs. 73 Dec 20, :03 AM Better retirement plan Improve pay 74 Dec 19, :46 PM drugs screening good benefits Need better quality employers for 75 Dec 19, :49 PM this. Remove poor performing employees. Offer incentives for new employees to relocate to Galt make employees feel part of the group Create fairness in the promotions (this currently does not exist). Keep the City Council out of staff's day-to-day activates Flexibility in schedule and work hours

76 Dec 19, :30 PM lower fees for new companies coming to Galt offer benefits 77 Dec 19, :14 PM This starts in the schools 78 Dec 19, :08 PM enhance pay for critical employees, i.e. police officers. 79 Dec 19, :00 PM Increase internship programs Offer scholarships to above 80 Dec 19, :49 PM better pay more opportunities to advance Development incentive programs, i.e., bonuses, allowance for conferences, more "free" educational workshops for wellness, Decrease cost of health insurance 81 Dec 19, :40 PM technology, etc. coverage for family members 82 Dec 19, :48 PM 83 Dec 19, :42 PM Get employees that will actual work an 8 hour day, thus requiring less employee to do the same job, allowing them to split the salary of the person no longer needed. Example, if I have 5 employees that only work efficient 80%, Get employees that work 100 you will only need 4 of them. Take the extra pay and give it to them. Lots of employees are working out of class, give them the titles they deserve by reviewing the positions and job titles in each department. Pay people a competitive wage Promote importance of education and continually remind employees of tuition reimbursement Remove bullies and other negative people from the workplace
