DEPARTMENT PURPOSE The Organising Program is a part of the Campaigns Directorate responsible for delivering a key element of ACF s theory of change. The position is responsible for managing staff located in Brisbane and Melbourne. POSITION PURPOSE The s will work in a new organising team to build grassroots power by leading the implementation of organising campaigns that will increase the number of people involved, leaders trained, and engagement of people with influence to achieve ACF s campaign and organising goals.

2 Chief Executive Officer Director of Campaigns Organising Program Manager ACF Support Officer Murray- Darling Basin KEY COLLABORATIONS The s will work closely with other ACF Campaign directorate team members and the Engagement directorate team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and lead the implementation of community organising strategy across the region/state, which aligns with ACF campaign priorities and policies; Recruit, motivate and train people to take repeated action in ACF campaigns; Build and manage relationships with supporters, members, volunteers and allies who can help achieve ACF campaign objectives; Train volunteers to take leadership and organise on-ground campaign activities including but not limited to distributed events, stalls, phone banking, door knocking, MP meetings and actions, mobilisation events and rallies; Attend and facilitate volunteer meetings, events and trainings in the field where required. Support, manage and supervise contractors and volunteer leaders and their teams to effectively implement semi-autonomous local campaign work to help achieve ACF s national objectives. Develop and adapt training materials that meet volunteers needs, expectations and existing experience levels. Provide strategic advice and guidance to volunteer leaders on organising matters such how to recruit, structure and grow their local groups, building and managing relationships, influencing decision makers, creating local campaign strategy and tactic selection. Ensure metrics are set for activities and data collected and integrated into ACF information management systems; Assist the Engagement team in the development of digital communication strategies and tactics that effectively engage ACF s supporter base to take action in ACF campaigns. Develop, test and review new tools, technologies, processes and practices that enable organising at greater scale and efficiency. Represent ACF in the community and in advocacy work including in local media; Observe the safe working practices and as far as you are able, protect your own and others health and safety. 3 KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS The performance of the will be evaluated through an annual performance review to be conducted by the Organising Program Manager and assessed against both generic and annual KPI s (as negotiated). KEY SELECTION CRITERIA 1. Organising: Able to inspire, manage, support, train, empower and involve ACF supporters, members and volunteers in community campaigns and implement systems for volunteer leadership development, management and engagement. Has a base level understanding of mobilisation and how it intersects with organising. 2. Communication skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, and a willingness to get out and about and engage with people. Ability to build meaningful relationships with people from a wide variety of backgrounds through utilising coaching methodologies. 3. Digital communication and data management: High level of general digital literacy, a fast learner who can quickly learn to operate a variety of online organising tools. 4. Teamwork: Cooperates and works well with others. Excellent people and relationship building skills. Able to work in and coordinate alliances and collaborations. Accommodates and works well with the different working styles of others, treating all people with dignity consistent with ACF values. 5. Initiative: Ability to work autonomously, demonstrate initiative and problem solving. Able to understand ACF s campaign objectives and see opportunities to advance them at a local community scale. 6. Innovation: Able to identify and understand emergent communities, trends, and standards in community management and organising. 7. Project management: Demonstrated planning and project management skills. 8. Integrity: Commitment to the protecting the environment and ACF s values, and an empathy for the challenges facing local communities. 9.
