2 Job description Job title: Regulatory Policy Manager Grade: 5 ivision: Reporting to: Responsible for: Professional Standards and Strategy Head of Professional Standards N/A Main contacts: Internal: Strategy and Professional Standards ivision, Customer Services ivision,. Marketing and Commercial ivision, and Finance ivision. Major objectives xternal: AAT members, other accountancy bodies, HM Treasury, HMRC, International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) To contribute to the achievement of AAT s business plan objectives and the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation by: eveloping policy in the critical areas of professional standards and relevant regulatory requirements, including anti-money laundering (AML) compliance to ensure that AAT members are compliant with the framework within which they operate. Actively engaging with the membership on their compliance obligations (AML, IFAC, Professional Conduct in Relation to Tax (PCRT), Non-Compliance with Laws and Regulations (NOCLAR)) reducing instances of non-compliance through strategic alignment of policy activity with engagement activity. Continuing to develop AAT s reach with targeted and appropriate interaction with key stakeholders both in the UK and globally. Responsibilities Policy development To constantly horizon scan, ensuring that AAT is aware of relevant upcoming changes within the regulatory environment for members, and the organisation itself. To develop policies in line with regulatory changes, including flagging opportunities for extending the recognition of AAT members To represent AAT on key stakeholder forums contributing to the development of domestic and global policy To develop external stakeholder relationships to support key AAT objectives and increase AAT influence in the regulatory and professional body sectors 2

3 ngagement To develop a programme of stakeholder engagement within AAT focussing on key areas within the regulatory environment seeking to understand issues and challenges faced in achieving effective compliance. Using the insight gleaned through stakeholder engagement to develop innovative resources which can be used to support members in achieving effective compliance. Co-ordinate closely with the Public Affairs and Public Policy team to increase AAT s external reach and influence in line with AAT strategy. To contribute to all AAT publications as appropriate to disseminate key policy messages To deliver events around the country on the topic of anti-money laundering, and other regulatory issues, as required by the business. Professional Standards Team support To provide support to AAT s Professional Standards team in understanding upcoming developments to the regulatory framework within which it operates. To assist with complex enquiries received through AAT helplines. To respond to trend information which is being identified through compliance monitoring activity, feeding this in to planned engagement activity. Customer centricity evelop friendly, positive and supportive relationships with external and internal customers, and to provide them with excellent service. Actively to learn from customer feedback, comments and suggestions, including complaints, to review and improve existing processes, and by doing so to anticipate other customers needs. To communicate this knowledge to relevant colleagues. Meet and exceed teams customer service standards. Understand situations from the customers perspective so that appropriate and relevant solutions can be identified. Corporate social responsibility Apply the principles of the CSR policy in your daily role, particularly reduce-reuse-recycle. Adhere to AAT s responsible business practices, such as high standards of governance, raising employment standards for employees and forming trade and community partnerships with appropriate organisations. General Carry out any other duties as may reasonably be requested by the line manager.
