2 TO DEMONSTRATE UNDERSTANDING AND COMPLIANCE WITH COMPANY REGULATIONS AND STATUTORY HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS Learning outcomes Assessment Method: Through observation and questioning within the workplace Understands and has ability to comply YES / NO PART 1 : PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT 1 Job Specific Performance The employee should demonstrate: Safety checks on equipment, tools and components are carried out and recorded, to include:- Maintenance Identification of hazardous and faulty equipment Reporting procedures Safe Handling and storage Correct operation of tools, equipment and machinery. All in accordance with the Organisational Procedures and Statutory Health and Safety Requirements 2 Compliance with company regulations. 2.1 A clear understanding of all accident and emergency procedures 2.2 A clear understanding of the hazards within the workplace 2.3 A clear understanding of the correct techniques and procedures when lifting and carrying 2.4 A clear understanding of safe working practices and procedures 3 Ability to comply with statutory workplace health and safety requirements. 3.1 An understanding of individual responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.(HASAWA) 3.2 An ability to fulfil responsibilities and requirements of HASAWA.

3 PART 2 : KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING Learning outcomes 1 Company Regulations Assessment Method Through Questioning/ Discussion The employee should have/know:- 1.1 A clear understanding of the relevant safe working practices and procedures required to undertake all duties. 1.2 Knowledge of where to go for help (i.e. Safety Representatives, members of site safety committee, Line Manager etc) when support is required and how to find relevant health and safety information for work related action (all relevant health and safety notice boards and warning signs). Understands and has ability to comply YES / NO 2 Company Procedures 2.1 Knowledge of who and where the first aiders work and what action is required in the event of an accident. 2.2 An understanding of what comprises a near miss and what lessons should be learnt from them. 2.3 Knowledge of the action required to sound the alarm in case of emergency and the procedures to be followed in an evacuation. 2.4 An understanding of the correct procedures for dealing with fire, the common causes of fire and the best way to help prevent them. 2.5 Knowledge of the correct ways of lifting and transporting loads and the manual and mechanical aids that are available 3 Statutory Health & Safety 3.1 Knowledge of the relevant Company statutory responsibilities and obligations.

4 3.2 An understanding of the processes and procedures that are employed to ensure compliance with COSHH 3.3 An understanding of the correct PPE and equipment that is required for work activities within an area of work. 3.4 An ability to explain the significance of safe storage and use of tools, equipment, materials and products. 3.5 An understanding of the hazards and risks of exposure to respirable crystalline silica. 3.6 An awareness of the objectives behind the European Social Dialogue Agreement and its task sheets. 3.7 An understanding of the basic requirements of the Noise Regulations and of the individual responsibility for ensuring compliance. 4 Personal Responsibilities 4.1 An ability to explain what is meant by good housekeeping and its importance in the field of health and safety. 5 Safe Working Practices and Procedures 5.1 An ability to explain what is meant by the term hazard and risk.
